Two NIC graduates, one of Prime Video’s newest series. 👀🎬

Acting graduates Mariam Lavala () and Cristhian Vargas (.vargasss) both appear in Carrie, the new Prime Video series. The new adaption of Stephen King’s Carrie is the #1 TV show streaming in Canada, according to JustWatch.

For Mariam, it marked her first experience working on a major set. From costume fittings and having her own trailer to spending time with the cast and crew between takes, she described the experience as surreal and a moment that brought together everything she had been training toward.

Cristhian, who moved to Vancouver in 2025 to pursue his acting career, appears in Episode 4 and says the experience gave him the opportunity to meet and learn from an incredible group of people.

We love seeing two members of our alumni community stepping onto the same production and adding another professional set experience to their journeys.

Congrats!!!

Watch Carrie now on Prime Video, and keep an eye out for some familiar NIC faces. 👀

Shooting on location is a great way to practice real on-set skills and experience what it’s like to work as part of a production. Huge thank you to everyone who contributed, both as actors and crew! 👏

We can’t wait to show you the final film! 👀

Fernanda Morán – Starring on Stage & Screen👏🏻

NIC acting graduate Fernanda Morán is making moves on stage and screen!

Fernanda is one of the lead actresses in Dos Locas de Remate, a comedy by Spanish playwright Ramón Paso, brought to Vancouver by Briken Productions. After previously performing in The Va**na Monologues, Fernanda is now officially part of the theatre company.

On screen, she stars in NUDOS, a short film by filmmaker Anaí Díaz that has received recognition at CineFest Latino Boston and was a semifinalist at the New York Indie Shorts Awards.

With more performances and NUDOS continuing its festival run, there’s more ahead for Fernanda. Fernanda Morán
