🎬 Huge congratulations to NIC alumnus Jan Sikora, who’s been making serious moves in the film industry since graduating.

Jan stars in Tight Lettuce (Gold Audience Award winner at Fantasia 2026) and produced TERM, a horror film starring Dean Norris that premiered at Fantasia and is heading to more top festivals later this year. He has also worked with Vesperia Films and assisted directors on Avatar: The Last Airbender and 21 Laps’ Untitled Hockey Show.

Catch Jan on the big screen at The Park Theatre, Tight Lettuce screens Wednesday, Sept 9 at 8:15pm.

Since graduating from our Acting program, the brothers have built screen careers with credits including The Flash, Turner & H***h, Supernatural, Love Hard, and Falling Skies, formed hip hop group WN8O (Pownz and sShoWw), and opened Sovereign Creatives and GRIO, a cultural space at 520 Alexander for events, workshops, and community.
From growing up together to building it all together. So proud of you both.

Our Beauty Makeup students are learning how to create camera-ready makeup for professional headshots, focusing on techniques that look flawless both in person and on camera. 💄🎬

We’re getting ready to bring “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” to the NIC stage! 👀✨

At NIC Plays, it’s not just about acting! Students get the chance to explore different roles and be part of every step of the production, from acting and directing to set decoration, building, lighting, and bringing the entire world of the play to life from scratch! 🔨🎨🎭

Karen Saiki completed NIC’s Esthetics program in May 2025, and while on her co-op work period, she landed a role at Kateko Cares Kateko - YVR Japanese Holistic Massage Therapist , a Japanese holistic spa in Vancouver.

At Kateko Cares, Karen specializes in relaxation, body massage, and facial massage, bringing a calm, gentle presence to every session. Her favourite part of the work is watching a client’s face soften and their breathing slow, the moment she knows they’ve truly let go. What keeps her motivated is hearing clients say they feel refreshed and at peace, and having them come back.

Her goal with every client is simple: help them feel at ease in both body and mind, and give them a genuine moment in their day to unwind.

It’s been a nice full-circle moment: the training she started at NIC is what she’s now building a career on.

Acrylic Nail Exam Day! 💅✨

Our Nail students put their skills to the test as they completed their Acrylic Nail Exam, demonstrating their knowledge of both forms and tips application techniques. Working on a live model, each student created a different technique and style on every finger, allowing them to showcase a wide range of skills in a single exam.

From sculpted extensions and tip applications to shaping, structure, and finishing, every nail highlights the precision, creativity, and technique they’ve developed throughout the program. Congratulations, everyone! 💖👏
