Graduate study should work with your life, not against it.

Dr. Shannon Risk, Director of the M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies & DEMNS, explains how the program is designed for working professionals. Many students balance full-time careers, families, and other responsibilities. Course structure and delivery reflect that reality.

The goal is to provide meaningful academic advancement while strengthening professional networks and expanding expertise in the field.

Professional growth can continue without putting life on hold.

The BPS program is structured around two clearly defined delivery formats.

Niagara University in Ontario offers a weekday cohort model that provides consistent academic engagement, as well as a weekend option tailored to working professionals, including ECEs and EAs. This flexibility allows candidates to advance their qualifications while maintaining professional responsibilities.

A central element of the program is the supervised practicum placement. After completing their field experience, teacher candidates return to the university classroom to analyze outcomes, exchange resources, and engage in guided reflection with faculty.

This integrated approach connects academic theory with classroom practice and strengthens professional preparedness.
