"There is something deeply humanizing in hearing the lived realities, circumstances, and social experiences that can wash away stigma.”

Christopher Hauschildt, a Royal Roads University Master of Arts in Global Leadership student, works with Walk With Me, a community-engaged research initiative that uses storytelling as a platform for experiential learning to reduce stigma surrounding the toxic drug poisoning crisis, and to catalyze social and systems change.

Through shared stories and dialogue, the project is helping build empathy, understanding and more compassionate systems of care.

A warm welcome the 800 participants representing diverse sectors, disciplines, communities and lived experiences, gathered today at Royal Roads University for the Victoria Forum.

At a time of rapid technological change, climate change, economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions and increasing polarization, creating space for meaningful conversation has never been more important.

The Victoria Forum brings people together to ask difficult questions, challenge assumptions and explore ideas that can lead to meaningful change.

Its foundation is the belief that constructive dialogue doesn’t require agreement. It requires curiosity, openness and the courage to engage with complexity.

As we navigate an increasingly complex world, let's approach it with curiosity, humility and the courage to listen, question and imagine what is possible.
