For decades, students at the English Language Centre at UVic (ELC) have been building more than just their English skills.

In the Foundations in Business English program, they are learning how to communicate, collaborate and apply their skills from a business perspective.

Sika Patton, an ELC teacher for the program, describes how students get to take a business challenge from start to finish. “They were very creative in their business ideas and dedicated to learning as much as they could from the course.”

As we approach the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, our campus comes together to honour the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, along with their families and communities.

On Tuesday, Sept. 29, the University of Victoria will host a campus-wide event from 1:30 to 2:45 pm, offering a shared space for reflection, learning and remembrance. Faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members are invited to gather.

The university will be closed on Sept. 30, in observance of this statutory holiday.
