Oshio College Successfully Hosts

Plant Medicine Walk 2026

Experiential Learning Rooted in Indigenous Knowledge

On May 23, 2026, Oshio College students, faculty, alumni, and community members gathered for a Plant Medicine Walk in the beautiful forests of Vancouver Island.

Led by one of our fifth-year students and Indigenous Knowledge Keeper, participants explored local medicinal plants, traditional ecological knowledge, and the relationship between people, land, and wellness.

More than 30 participants joined this enriching outdoor learning experience, strengthening connections with nature while deepening their understanding of plant medicine and Indigenous perspectives on health and healing.

⭐ ⭐ Student Reflection ⭐ ⭐

One of our acupuncture students recently shared a reflection on her journey at Oshio College.

Coming to Canada later in life and balancing family responsibilities, she chose to study Traditional Chinese Medicine not only as a profession, but as a way to better understand health and healing.

During a difficult period in her life, she received care and guidance from Dr. Yin, which she describes as a turning point that inspired her decision to begin formal TCM studies.

Over the years of learning, she gained not only clinical knowledge, but also a deeper understanding of self-care and wellbeing — knowledge she was able to apply within her own family.

She spoke with gratitude about the dedication of our instructors, the thoughtful curriculum design, and the supportive learning environment created by classmates from diverse backgrounds.

We are honoured to accompany our students through both their professional training and personal growth.
