Exciting Course Opportunity This Fall! Build a Startup in One Term (learn more on Sept 11)

Hi everyone,

I’m writing to let you know that we have a few spaces left in the Startup Studio course this term.

Startup Studio (SENG 455/BCOM 450) puts you on a team with software engineering, computer science, and business students. You'll use generative AI to move fast, learn directly from many local founders, mentors and investors, and turn an idea into a product people can actually use. This course is wonderful for building your resume as you will learn from two instructors across two different faculties, and learn from a diverse and talented student base.

If you are interested and don’t have the prerequisites, you may fill out a waiver (https://www.uvic.ca/ecs/_assets/docs/student-forms/pre-or-co-requisite-waiver-request.pdf) and mail to [email protected].

You are also welcome to the first class on Sept 11th from 1:30–4:30 PM.
Meet 8+ founders, ideate, and decide if the course is right for you. Space is limited, so don't wait too long. Email [email protected] for location and more details.

Full details, schedule, mentors, and student stories are mentioned here: https://startup-studio.ai

The full course outline, when posted, will have more details. In the meantime, the website has everything you need to decide if this is for you.

Hope to see you on the 11th!

Margaret-Anne (Peggy) Storey & Claudia Smith

Work in a team of software engineering, computer science and business students, use generative AI to move fast, learn directly from founders and investors, and turn an idea into a product people can actually use.

This program is designed to enhance the research productivity of the department, provide the department with additional teaching resources, and provide fellows with additional teaching mentorship and the opportunity to develop a teaching portfolio prior to entering the job market. Co-supervision is welcome.

This is a one-year fellowship, renewable for a second year subject to satisfactory teaching performance, continued support of the supervisor(s), and continued availability of departmental funds. The annual salary range for this position is $60,000 - $85,000. The applicant's qualifications and experience will determine the final salary offer.
