The Camosun Coastal Centre (CCC), formerly known as Industrial Marine Training and Applied Research Centre (IMTARC), was established in 2013 as a purpose-built facility designed to provide affordable and accessible training and education to meet the demands of BC’s growing marine industry. Located on Songhees Nation land, the Centre, built by industry for industry, is situated in the heart of a la
rge marine cluster in the Esquimalt Harbour. The concept of built by industry for industry rings true as the CCC facilitates industry access to dozens of international, national, and local training providers, offering hundreds of courses relevant to industry. Where industry has a need and the course does not exist, the CCC will develop a curriculum to support the industry. These courses include entry-level training courses created to enable those seeking employment to gain the necessary knowledge, skills and credentials to obtain gainful employment. The CCC also works to increase diversity in the labor force with career exploration programs for indigenous people and women seeking employment in industry. Our 4,000 square-foot facility consists of two large classrooms, a 12-station computer lab, and administrative space. Each classroom is equipped with full audio-visual capabilities including digital projectors, LCD monitors, and electric screens. Desks and chairs are on wheels to allow a variety of seating arrangements to create a more immersive and co-operative learning experience. Our 12-station windows computer lab has the same equipment as well. If you have any questions regarding the Centre or simply want to discuss current events in the marine industry, please don't hesitate to send an email or give us a phone call at [email protected] or 778-265-5005!
