Centre for Global Studies - CFGS The CFGS is housed at the University of Victoria, in beautiful British Columbia, Canada.

The CFGS is committed to fostering reflection on the complex array of social forces associated with an increasingly interconnected world characterized by new forms of economic activity, artistic production, politics, media, nationalism, ethnicity, spirituality and community that increasingly transcend local, national and regional boundaries.

CFGS is now accepting applications for our Global Fellowship Program.
The CFGS’s Global Fellowship Program provides opportunities to graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, mentors, and visiting scholars.

New “themes” this year:

1) Global Climate Change Governance
2) Structures of Global Inequalities
3) The Legacies of Authoritarianism

New for “Postdoctoral Fellow” this year: CFGS will be offering $7,500/year as matching funds for Faculty sponsorship of UVic’s Internal Aspiration Postdoctoral Fellows and $2,000/year as research funds top-up to SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellows (or equivalent who have not held the Aspiration PDF) for applicants in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Fine Arts.

New for “Visiting Fellows” this year: “Visiting Fellows” may receive up to the following support toward their travel and accommodation costs while visiting CFGS: Global North scholars ($2,000) and Global South ($4,000).

Please note, our UVic Faculty Fellowship is suspended for 2027/2028.

Applications are due November 20, 2026.
