We’re excited to share a heartfelt blog post by MSW student Mercedes Calma, reflecting on her practicum in palliative care and her experience attending the 4th International Research Seminar on Public Health & Palliative Care, hosted at UVic this past June.

Back in June, Dr. Cindy Holmes organized a wonderful beach picnic where we had the chance to celebrate her retirement together.

Congratulations, Cindy, on your retirement! Since joining the School of Social Work in 2017, your impactful scholarship and teaching — in areas such as 2SLGBTQ+ issues, critical mental health, anti-violence work, and decolonial and anti-racist practices — have left a lasting mark on students, colleagues, and the broader community.
