As a pharmacoepidemiologist, Dr. Alkabbani brings together pharmacology and epidemiology to study how medications are used in the real world, and how safe and effective they are over time. Using large healthcare databases, she uncovers patterns in medication use and patient outcomes.

Her research helps improve medication safety and guides smarter prescribing, supporting better decisions for patients, healthcare providers, and policymakers.

Late nights at a Long Point research station bring beautiful sunrises, and the chance to pursue hands-on conservation research for hashtag alum Thomas Pianta (BSc โ€™25).

His work with Dr. Liam McGuire is advancing sustainability and conservation research through studying bat migration. Now pursuing his masterโ€™s degree in ecology, Thomas is exploring how stress and bat personality influence their migration patterns around Lake Erie. His research goals include protecting endangered bat species from threats like wind turbines during migration.
