*TRIGGER WARNING*

On November 20th is the Trans Day of Remembrance.

On November 21st the RC will be holding a trans vigil in the Hawks Nest at 9am. This will be to honour the lives of those who were murdered as a result of hate crimes and transphobia.

Here are some statistics collected from recent years showing the rates and impacts of violence on those who identified as being in the transgender community.

Today is ! November 18th has been selected to celebrate and highlight the work and barriers of LGBTQIA+ people in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM).

The date is symbolic of the 60th anniversary of American Astronomer and gay activist Frank Kameny’s US Supreme Court fight against workplace discrimination. This is a fight that continues today, and we encourage you to do your part in creating safer and more inclusive spaces in STEM.

💜ACE WEEK Explained🤍
———————————————
• An international campaign
• Helps to educate + give voice
• ACE Umbrella = asexual, demisexual, or grey-asexual +
• Often overlooked + misunderstood ‘A’ in 2SLGBTQQIA+
• Asexual people exist on a spectrum
• “Allosexual” (a term for people who are not asexual)
• Asexuality is an intrinsic part of who people are; not a choice
• Asexuality is different from romantic orientations

🖤🤍💜

• Asexual: Asexuality is a sexual orientation where a person experiences little to no sexual attraction to anyone and/or does not experience desire for sexual contact.

🖤🤍💜

•Demisexual: Demisexual is an orientation where a person can only experience sexual attraction if a strong emotional bond is present.

🖤🤍💜

•Grey-asexual: Gray-asexuality encompasses a wide range of experiences such as experiencing sexual attraction rarely, under specific circumstances, or sexual attraction that fluctuates over time.

🖤🤍💜

✨Aromantic does not equal Asexual! ✨
💚Aromatic (ARO) = No romantic attraction (but may experience sexual attraction)

🖤🤍💜

💜Asexual (ACE) = No sexual attraction (but may experience romantic attraction)

🖤🤍💜

💚💜Aromantic and Asexual (ARO/ACE) = No romantic and no sexual attraction
