Missing Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-Spirit people have been displaced from their communities and within urban centres. Valentine’s Day is a day that folks wear red in support and solidarity with women and Two-Spirit people around Turtle Island. The ISA will be hosting a cookie fundraiser on February 13th & 14th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with different-shaped sugar cookies you can decorate yourself. There will also be a limited number of take-home cookie kits available. We also welcome and appreciate donations. All proceeds will go to an organization that supports MMIWG2S+, with the organization being announced closer to the event.

Join the ISA for a special guest speaker event with Eagle Blackbird and his friend Young Casper on November 29th at 2:00 p.m. Location to be announced.

A little bit about our guest speakers: Eagle Blackbird, a proud Anishinaabe Indigenous youth leader and content creator from Walpole Island First Nation has gained over 1 million followers on TikTok, known for his engaging social media presence that highlights Indigenous culture and humor. Creating videos has given him a purpose to reconnect to his culture and empower indigenous youth across turtle island.

Eagle collaborates frequently with his close friend, Young Casper. Together, they create humorous and educational content that bridges cultural gaps and fosters understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. Their dynamic partnership showcases the power of friendship and shared creativity, making complex cultural topics accessible and relatable to a broad audience. In his own words: “Laughter is good medicine.”

Join the ISA next Wednesday (November 20th) at 6 pm at the ISC for a fun night of snacks, refreshments, and games. We will have a popcorn bar where you will be able to put toppings and seasonings of your choice on your popcorn. Games will include Cards Against Colonialism, Uno, Mario Party, JackBox Mario Kart, Just Dance and more. Attend the event and your name will be entered into a draw for a chance to win two Cineplex tickets and a regular popcorn! 🍿🥤👾
