At the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business, MBET students apply structured frameworks to turn experience into disciplined venture building.

For Joshua Olonade, this meant integrating validation, customer discovery, and market insight into every stage of his process, strengthening both his decision-making and confidence as a founder.

Through the program’s hands-on learning, direct faculty feedback, and collaborative community, Joshua advanced BaseLeaf, a SaaS platform simplifying immigration for high achievers.

"The bigger shift, however, has been internal. It shows up in how confidently I move. I make better decisions because I have the right tools to make them with, and I lean on those tools especially when the call is uncomfortable."

"I came into MBET with an idea I believed in, but what I really needed was clarity on how to turn it into something that could scale.

Through the feedback, frameworks, and conversations in the program, it became clear that my original direction needed to change. That led to a major pivot. FlashApply evolved from a B2C product into a B2B platform focused on candidate presentation and hiring workflows for staffing agencies. We are now in the process of closing our first two B2B customers, which has been strong early validation of the new direction.

MBET gave me what I could not have gotten building alone: structured frameworks, sharp feedback, and a community that consistently pushed me to validate my assumptions with real customers. FlashApply is stronger because of it."

-Simon Peter Damian, MBET ‘26

Last week, Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) students took part in an immersive learning experience in San Francisco.

From sessions with AWS on scaling technology infrastructure, to conversations on international expansion with a Trade Commissioner, to a behind-the-scenes look at venture-building at Studio 45, students gained practical insights to support their ventures. A Founder Roundtable and Stanford LaunchPad session added candid perspectives on building and growing innovation-driven companies.

Beyond the sessions, the experience was grounded in connection. Students engaged with founders, advisors, and ecosystem partners, building relationships that extend well beyond the trip.

This experience reflects MBET’s commitment to experiential learning and global entrepreneurship, equipping students with the insights and networks needed to move their ventures forward.

From engineer to innovator

William Paskar graduated from the University of Waterloo with a mechanical engineering degree, but knew he wanted to go beyond building technology to shaping how it creates value.

Through the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) program at the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business, he developed the skills to bridge that gap.

Today, as Senior Manager, Enterprise Systems Engineering at Metrolinx, he leads technology strategy for major transit initiatives across the region.

"MBET gave me credibility to move from a purely technical role into a business role. It helped position me as someone who could lead both technology and business conversations."

When Krishnapriya PS chose the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) program at the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business, she wanted more than a traditional degree, she wanted to build.

Today, she’s a product manager, coach, and author helping founders and early-career product professionals bring clarity to the chaos of building new products.

MBET’s interdisciplinary structure gave her fluency across functions, the ability to speak the language of engineers, executives, finance teams, and customers alike. “You learn how to balance user needs and business needs,” she says. “That multi-stakeholder perspective is exactly what product managers do every day.”
