Hi everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ˜

This is a reminder of the upcoming retirement of our SDS social media pages here on Instagram *and* Facebook. Any information relevant to current students (like academic deadline reminders, scholarship or resource highlights, shout-outs to other amazing campus services, Renison events) will now be over at Renison's core student account, .

The shift will be official on May 1, 2026 and you'll see a final reminder from us before then. After that date our accounts will no longer actively maintain or share new information, nor respond to DMs or comments.

If you currently follow either page and want to stay in the loop, please follow . If you are an active SDS student (major or minor), also keep an eye out for our biweekly enewsletters for ongoing academic information. E.g. Fall 2026 course selection starts May 21~

Hi everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ˜

We'd like to announce the upcoming retirement of our SDS social media pages here on Instagram and Facebook. We'll be moving any current-student related information - e.g. academic deadline reminders, scholarship or resource highlights, shout-outs to other amazing campus services - over to Renison's core student account, .

This will ensure consolidated, consistent, and timely posting on Renison's academic programming, student events, and important dates. You'll see a few reminders from us in the coming month towards the full change-over in May 2026.

If you currently follow our page and want to stay in the loop, please follow going forward. If you are an active SDS student, keep an eye out for our biweekly enewsletters for ongoing academic information as well.

Thank you for years of supporting these accounts and hope you check out Renison Experience soon๐Ÿฅฐ

REMINDERS:
- March 20th is the last day to drop a current winter course and receive WD/withdrawn code (no impact to averages/standings, but stays on transcript).
- If you course selection for spring-term, check your results & schedule starting tomorrow March 19 in Quest
- Add/drop enrolment begins next week (Mon/Tues by appointment time, Wed open) and ends in early May
- Renison uses a waitlist for full/closed/reserved classes until the start of term: https://uwaterloo.ca/renison/renison-academic-waiting-lists

TIP: Looking for a unique elective this spring term and still have most of your summer off? Consider INNOV 200: Theory and Practice of Social Innovation! It's run by our neighbours at United College, and happens May 4th to 8th as a "block course" (full credit for just that week).

The course examines how social innovation creates lasting change at the systemic level. Students learn to identify problems, engage with communities, and communicate their ideas persuasively. Through a team-based project, they put this knowledge into practice. For those drawn to questions about how societies shift and what role individuals can play in that process, this offers both the theory and the tools.

No prerequisites required. Sign up via Quest or express interest here: https://airtable.com/appvg308eEaXl7sQQ/pagAFBVjuscha79Ys/form

To be placed on a waitlist for a spring 2026 Renison course, please follow the instructions below:

DYK? There are two great options for improving skills that'll help you manage class content and competing demands in your degree ๐Ÿ˜

1) This past Fall, Renison Student Experience and Housing rolled out its Learning Skills Team and their services in the Lusi Wong Library for students to access. They'd like to welcome all students, staff, and faculty to come meet everyone at the Learning Skills Team Open House!

Drop by TOMORROW Thursday, January 8 from 11:30am to 1:00pm in the Lusi Wong Library for refreshments and treats. Chat with Andrew, Rubee, and Diya, and learn how the workshops, meet-ups, and drop-in services that are provided out of the Library help students thrive in their studies.

*This may be really convenient for students taking courses or programs here at Renison; if you're already here, might as well pop by!* Visit the Learning Skills Support webpage to learn more. https://uwaterloo.ca/renison-student-experience/learning-skills

2) Lots of amazing services, workshops (live and recorded), self-assessment tools, tips, peer supports, and other services available for all UW students at the Student Success Office. https://uwaterloo.ca/students/academic-success/learning-support

Renison's Learning Skills team is here to help you thrive during your studies!
