New paper alert! πŸš¨πŸ“œ Our international Geography of Philosophy Project team just published groundbreaking research on how wisdom is perceived across cultures.

🌏 We found two universal dimensions of wisdom:
1️⃣ Reflective Orientation: focused thinking, logic, emotional control
2️⃣ Socio-Emotional Awareness: understanding people and social context

The wisest individuals score high on both! 🧠❀️ Surprisingly, at lower levels of reflection, being *less* socio-emotionally aware was seen as wiser. πŸ€”

Quite proud of cutting-edge statistical methods Maxim Rudne - the lead author - developed to enable rigorous comparisons across 13 languages and 8 cultural regions. πŸ“ŠπŸ—ΊοΈ

This collaborative effort is a product of many brilliant researchers worldwide incl. Clark Barrett Edouard Machery Stephen Stich Wesley Buckwalter (who pitched the initial idea to me) and many many others. It is a major step towards understanding wisdom on a global scale! 🌍🀝
