Beckett School at Laurier offers one-on-one music lessons taught by qualified instructors in the KW area. We offer lessons in piano, voice, theory, guitar, strings, drums, winds, brass, and early music education. Our instructors are currently teaching virtually for the safety of our students. We have two convenient locations in 190 Lester Street and 68 Biehn Drive in Kitchener!

Ukelele is a fun and engaging way to learn the fundamentals of music! Based in Orff/Kodaly methods, the goal of the classes is to encourage students to learn basic ukulele skills and techniques (rhythmic strumming, beginning melody picking, singing the notes). Parent/guardian attendance is welcome but optional. Taught by Jennifer Stacey - Early Childhood Music specialist and experienced music teacher.

The NextGen Youth Orchestra is open for registration too! Join conductor Shawn Bennett and an awesome group of young musicians this fall to play commercial rock and pop music, broadway, country, video game music, film scores, traditional orchestral pieces, as well as repertoire from underrepresented circles, including the BIPOC music community. Ages 12-20, all instruments welcome (including those not traditionally found in orchestras).

September 14 to December 7, 2026
Rehearsal times: Mondays from 7 - 9 p.m.
Location: Wilfrid Laurier University Faculty of Music, 75 University Ave. W, Waterloo
Audition fee (virtual and in-person): $35
Tuition once accepted: $295 ($260 for students registered with LAMA)

Watch what our beginning band students have accomplished! If your child has always wanted to learn an instrument or join a band, now is the perfect time to start. Join the Junior Hawks Beginning Band this September to learn alongside other young musicians in a fun, supportive ensemble. Everyone welcome, no experience required.

Did you know we offer several Chinese instrument and language music programs? Our Fall 2026 sessions are now open for registration!

Our Bilingual (Mandarin and English) Early Childhood Music Class introduces children ages 0-4 to Chinese folk music and English-language song, taught by experienced music educator, Li Zhang.

The InterGen Chinese Instrument Ensemble brings together generations of musicians on traditional Chinese instruments to play fil music, traditional Chinese works, and pop arrangements. Led by Li Zhang and co-facilites by Kelsey Cai.

Our Guzheng Group Class is open to all ages and skill levels, in both English and Mandarin. Experience the beauty of traditional Chinese music through the guzheng! Taught by experienced guzheng musician, Jiani Li.

Fall 2026 group classes at LAMA for children and teens are now open for registration!

SUP'R Students introduces children ages 7-10 to singing, ukelele, piano, and recorder. Learn the fundamentals of music through these instruments! Group lessons are taught by experienced music teachers Jennifer Stacey, Larry Moser, and Judith Bean..

Foundations of Singing for Kids teaches children ages 8-12 important singing and listening skills through fun musical activities and songs! Taught by music instructor Hayden Kerry.

Ukelele for Beginners is based in Orff and Kodaly methods, children ages 7-9 learn basic ukelele and music skill from Early Childhood Music specialist, Jennifer Stacey.

Our newest program this fall is our Chamber Ensembles for Strings! Intermediate and advanced string players (violin, viola, and cello) will be placed in small ensembles and receive weekly coaching from experienced violinst and teacher, Kenneth Kwan.

Fall 2026 Early Childhood Music Classes are now open for registration!

Music with Your Child is a weekly group class for children ages 3, 4, and 5-6 and caregivers, based in Orff/Kodaly methods. Full of singing, movement, and instruments.

The Chinese-English Bilingual Music Class introduces children ages 0-4 and their caregivers to Chinese folk music and English-language songs while learning the fundamentals of music through singing, movement, and instruments.

Intergenerational Jamboree is in partnership with a local long-term care home, we join the residents in singing, playing, and moving to nursery rhymes, lullabies, and favourite songs.
