The UWGS is looking for energetic and enthusiastic people to fill executive positions! The UWGS is a student chapter of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists and is focused on serving the community at large by sharing experience and education about the vast realm of Geophysics.

The UWGS will be driving to Toronto to attend the monthly Canadian Exploration Geophysics Society (KEGS) Talk. The talk will take place at the University of Toronto on June 13th (NEXT TUESDAY). We will be driving down departing the EIT main entrance 13h30 (1:30PM). The cost is $10 to cover the fuel cost of the van and parking on campus. The talk will be at 16h30. You will have the opportunity to meet some key industry people and talk about Geophysics! After the talk, we will head to a food spot for dinner. We should be back to Waterloo before 21h00 (9:00PM). Please see Max in EIT 2013B to confirm your seat in the van, or you could email him at [email protected]. We currently have 6 seats available.

We will be driving down in one or two vehicles departing the EIT main entrance 14h00 (2:00PM). The cost is $5 to cover the fuel cost of the van. We will be parking at Wilson Subway Station, so please make sure to have round-trip TTC Fare ($3.25 each way). The talk will be at 16h30. You will have the opportunity to meet some key industry people and talk about Geophysics! After the talk, we will head to a food spot for dinner :-). What better way to unwind from a busy day of studying (or continue procrastinating from it) then by a three hour lecture on the mathematics of full wave form inversion? Obviously by watching a movie with some super cool people! Come out to our end of term tonight: AL 113, 7pm-10pm.

Fun fact: no one on the Exec Team really has any clue how Twitter works, so if nothing else, watching us completely fail at using it may provide you with some enjoyment! Seriously, within two minutes of creating the account it was already suspended, so things might get interesting...

Hello Everyone!

There are still 3 spots available for our trip tomorrow to the KEGS Lecture in Toronto. The topic of the talk is Geophysical Inversion, which if you're interested in quantitative interpretation of data this is the talk for you!

The cost is $5 +TTC Transportation costs. We will meet by the Periodic Table in EIT at 1:30PM and leave from there. Please let one of the Execs know if you're interested or would like more info. My email is [email protected].
