Imagine if farmers could see inside their plants to detect diseases before symptoms appear. Thanks to groundbreaking research at the University of Windsor, this could soon be a reality!

Dr. Dan Xiao, Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, is pioneering the development of portable, cost-effective MRI systems tailored for agriculture. In collaboration with Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers (OGVG) and support through the Greenhouse Technology Network, her team is creating MRI devices that:

✅ Monitor plant health in real-time – No more waiting for external signs of disease.
✅ Detect infections early – Prevent crop losses by identifying issues before they spread.
✅ Optimize growing conditions – Track water, nutrients, and plant physiology like never before.

This innovation could transform the way we grow food, helping farmers make smarter, data-driven decisions to increase yield and sustainability.
