INCUBATOR Hybrid Laboratory at the Intersection of Art, Science and Ecology is a physical and theoretical hub, a new art/science laboratory at The University of Windsor. Founded in 2009 it functions both as an apparatus in which environmental conditions can be controlled towards the assisted proliferation of life, but also as a site that supports the proliferation of new ideas – new artistic practices.

This is not a typical art studio. 🧫
At INCUBATOR Art Lab, artists and scientists work across art, biology and ecology to explore new ways of working with living systems.
We experiment with organisms, technologies and ideas — asking what art can do when life itself becomes part of the process.
Welcome to INCUBATOR.

Thank you to the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) for supporting the next iteration of the Algae Dress! 🎉🙏

OAC Funding will support the research, creation and production of a newly constructed Algae Dress. After experimenting with this concept over the past few years and showcasing a prototype during our collaboration with in February 2026, we are ready to build a team and take on the professional construction of the final work. How exciting!!!
