On Tuesday, October 29th from 11:30am-12:45pm in the University College Concourse Lounge (follow the signs), we welcome John Vaillant, who will be talking about his multi-award winning book Fire Weather: The Making of a Beast. The book explores the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfire within the context of fossil fuel dependence, climate, and how our economy and society deals with the power of fire. Have some lunch with the author, and engage in questions and discussion moderated by Dr. Gregory Mason, one of the jurors who selected this book for the 2024 J.W. Dafoe Book Prize. This event is sponsored by the Duff Roblin Professor of Government Dr. Susan Prentice, the Department of Political Studies, and the J.W. Dafoe Foundation. All are welcome!
