Exploring themes of health, well-being, and q***r identity, the 2024 Pride in Health catalogue celebrates 2SLGBTQIA+ drag performers and artists by highlighting the artwork that they submitted during the 2024 Pride in Health conference.

The conference was an interdisciplinary health research conference focused on the 2SLGBTQIA+ community organized by the Q***r and Trans Student Group and the Centre for Human Rights Research at the University of Manitoba.

Congrats to Barret Monchka, whose recent awards and recognitions include a prestigious 2025 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship from Canadian Institutes of Health Research. The MCHP PhD student also received an Artificial Intelligence for Public Health Research Training Program Scholarship and won Best Podium Presentation at the 2025 U of T Medicine T-CAIREM AI in Medicine Conference. Monchka also received and declined a Canada Graduate Scholarship in favour of the more substantial Vanier Award. Supported by advisor Dr. Lisa Lix, Monchka’s research applies to enhance between sets, improving our understanding of the non-medical factors that influence health, enhancing health equity, and protecting patient privacy. Monchka, who has a background in computer science, applied biostatistics, and epidemiology, also works as a data analyst with George & Fay Yee Centre for Healthcare Innovation.

Congratulations to ’s Dr. Mina Nouredanesh, who’s been awarded a Research Manitoba Manitoba Solutions Grant. This fund, which supports projects that use to improve outcomes for Manitoba Residents, will support Dr. Nouredanesh’s project “Transforming Manitoba’s Healthcare through AI-Powered Predictive Tools and Digital Twins Built on Three Decades of Medical Data”.

Pride Winnipeg is collecting feedback through their community survey, and it’s a great chance to share your experiences, ideas, and hopes for future Pride events and initiatives.

If Pride has impacted you in any way: whether through events, community connections, advocacy, or visibility, please take a few minutes to fill it out. Your voice helps shape a more inclusive and supportive community for everyone. To be eligible to participate in this survey you must:

1. Self-identify as either part of the 2S/LGBTQQIA+ community or an ally;
2. Over the age of 15 at time of survey completion;
3. Reside in Manitoba and;
4. Have either attended a Pride Winnipeg event or wanted to attend a Pride Winnipeg event at some point
