The Winnipeg Holistic Expressive Arts Therapy (WHEAT) Institute offers training in the therapeutic use of the arts in a gorgeous lakeside retreat immersion and Online classes. Through WHEAT's programs, students learn how the universal language of art allows healing, growth and justice to emerge from even the smallest brushstrokes, movements and words. WHEAT's holistic approach to education incorpo

rates connections with history, nature, culture, and respect for Indigenous Ways of Knowing into its settings, philosophies, and curriculum. WHEAT is the only school of its kind to provide Indigenous language courses within all its programs, and was the first to offer a fully Indigenized Art and Expressive Arts Therapy program in Canada. WHEAT is pleased to offer Online classes through Zoom and in-person immersions at Painted Sky Studio on Lake Manitoba. Adriana Marichone is a registered Expressive Arts Therapist through the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA), a Somatic Movement Therapist through the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA), and has a Masters in Psychology. Adriana has presented at international conferences and as an experienced group facilitator and teacher she has brought her work to institutions such as South by Southwest, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, Epiphany Center for Women and Children, and San Francisco State University. She has been an instructor and supervisor at WHEAT Institute in Canada, and for years was on core faculty at Tamalpa Institute, the internationally renowned training center for movement-based expressive arts therapy. She has a Studio Art degree and continues to work in the mediums of photography, dance, writing, and film.

Meet Our Dance/Movement Therapy Certificate Instructors!

Zuzana Ševčíkova, Instructor

Zuzana, PhD candidate at Concordia University, is a Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist and drama therapist who holds degrees in physiotherapy and contemporary dance from the Czech Republic, her country of origin, and a Master’s degree in drama therapy from Concordia University, Montreal. She also graduated from the Developmental Transformations Institute, Montreal, and is one of the first graduates of the dance therapy Alternate Route training program at the 92Y Harkness Dance Centre, New York City. Zuzana is a co-founding member and a past President of the DMTAC and a co-founding member and a board member of the Quebec Alliance of Creative Arts Therapists. She works in elementary schools of the Lester B. Pearson school board in Montreal and provides training and supervision in DMT.
