Hey everyone! We are excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2022-2023 UMSU 2SLGBTQIA+ Community Scholarships!

We have six scholarships of $500 each available:
- 3 will be awarded based on financial need & community involvement
- 3 will be awarded based on community involvement

Please find the corresponding application form in the linktree in our Instagram bio. You may only apply for one of these categories.

To apply, you must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be a full-time or part-time undergraduate student at the University of Manitoba for the 2022-2023 academic year.
- Applicants must be UMSU members.
- Applicants must identify as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
- Applicants must write a 300-800 word response answering the prompts in the form found in our Instagram bio & on the UMSU website.
- Applicants must also provide a list and detailed explanations of past and current volunteer experience and community involvement, focusing on involvement with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and at the University of Manitoba.
- Applicants must email the completed form and list of their involvement with the subject “Community Scholarship Application” to [email protected] by 11:59pm on Sunday, May 14th.

Please note:
Only successful applicants will be notified. The recipients of the scholarship will be contacted by email and awarded recognition on social media (with their permission).

RPC and SOFASA are pleased to announce that we will have the art exhibit open from Monday, March 27, 2023 to Friday, March 31, 2023. Hours will be from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM.

Rainbow Pride Centre & Arts Student Body Council are hosting a Q***r Mixer in VWs (in the Spirit Room, 3rd Floor of University Centre) on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

This event is open to all 2SLGBTQIA+ students. Please join us for a fun social event with the chance to meet others, connect with the community, and have some food & drinks!

This is an 18+ event, so be sure to bring your Government ID.

Also, the first 30 attendees will receive a free drink ticket! Other food and drink options will be available for purchase from VWs.

Our promise has been kept, and RPC and ASBC are joining again to have another pin fundraiser, this time to support the sourdough bakery Eadha Bread!

Head over to the first floor of UC (University Centre) on April 4th from 1PM to 4:30PM and April 6th from 11AM-4:30PM (CST) to buy some pride and s*xuality-themed pins! There will be 76 different options, including s*xual orientation, pride flags, and pronoun pins (Cash and credit will be accepted). There will also be jewelry such as earrings, necklaces, keychains, and magnets.

Join us next Wednesday, March 22nd from 7-8pm in the Arts Lounge (2nd Floor, Fletcher Argue) for our final community assembly of the term! We will have pizza, drinks, and gift cards to give away!
We will also be joined by a mental health therapist from who is a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and will be answering questions that you may have around seeking therapy and how to use your UMSU health & dental plan to do so! If you’d prefer to ask them anonymously, please send them in to the question box on our story!

Calling all artists and art lovers! 🎨

Rainbow Pride Centre (RPC) and the School of Fine Arts Student Association (SOFASA) have joined together to hold a Q***r Art Exhibit running from March 27th-31st, with an opening reception on Saturday, March 25th from 5:30-8:30PM (CST) in University Centre in the Flex Space (102A UMSU Flex Space) and in IQs Cafe (3rd Floor, University Centre).

Come have a snack and see some art ✨ There will be different forms of art on display, all created by students in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community at the UofM. This event allows for students to showcase their art, better connect with other q***r artists, and for the University at large to see the wonderful work being done by the community.

Friendly reminder that submissions are still open until March 20th, we kindly ask that trigger warnings are included if deemed necessary. We are currently looking for a musician who would like to perform at the event (honorarium will be provided for approved submissions).
