The University of Manitoba School of Dental Hygiene Alumni Association is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2025 Alumnus of Distinction Award as Professor Mary Bertone.
Mary graduated from the School of Dental Hygiene Diploma Program in 2005 and in 2011 with her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. Mary is well known in the dental hygiene community for her contributions to community health and her leadership through numerous dental hygiene groups and committees. A few examples of her leadership roles include her position as President of MDHA from 2007 to 2008, President of CDHA from 2013 to 2014, Director of U of M Centre for Community Oral Health (CCOH) from 2017 to 2021, and her current position as Director at the School of Dental Hygiene that she has held since 2014.
Mary is well known for her enthusiasm and positivity. She will be honored at the Alumni of Distinction Awards Evening that will be held on September 19th, 2025 at the Fort Garry Hotel. Tribute will be made to the Class of 1975 at this event.
