In this Friday's Lunchtime Learning Series session, we welcome back retired professor of Comparative Religion Bruce Matthews. Bruce has an interest in historical civilizations and religions and their continuing impact on the contemporary world, and he'll share photos and commentary from a recent expedition to the "Forest of Kings" with his wife Pam.

The Mayans of Central America left behind many magnificent ruins, testimony to a great civilization that lasted 1000 years. Some of the best examples are along the border of Mexico and Guatemala (called ‘A Forest of Kings’ by archaeologists). Many are not easy to get to. They include such sites as Palenque, Yaxchilán and Bonampak in Chiapas, Tikal and Calakmul in the central zone, and Dzibanché and Kohunlich in the eastern Rió Bec.
