Acadia University

Acadia University Visit http://acadiau.ca Acadia University’s campus is beautiful. When you step onto campus, you enter a world of opportunity. Choose Acadia - choose opportunity.

So beautiful, in fact, that we often hear the phrase, “I visited the campus and fell in love with it.” Just steps beyond Acadia’s campus you can explore a lavish natural environment that includes the world’s highest tides, vineyards, woodland trails, farmlands, bustling markets, quaint shops, art galleries, a thriving live theatre scene, the tidal mudflats of the Bay of Fundy (one of the Seven Nat

ural Wonders of the World), and some of the most delicious culinary experiences on Earth. What's more, our location in the heart of Annapolis Valley provides students with access to a variety of ecosystems often used in field-based research and course work, providing a rich balance of both indoor and outdoor laboratory experiences. Founded in 1838, Acadia University is one of the oldest and most respected liberal arts universities in Canada. Located just a one-hour drive from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Acadia is an integral part of the quintessential college town of Wolfville, overlooking the Annapolis Valley and the Bay of Fundy. Work closely with professors, volunteer within the community, study abroad, enjoy world-class co-op placements, and engage in real-world research. Acadia’s four faculties – Arts, Pure and Applied Sciences, Professional Studies, and Theology – offer more than 200 degree combinations across undergraduate and graduate programs.

If you read any post today…let it be this one!!!! 🌍✨

TaNyah Gibson, Michaela Dankwa, Megan Glasgow, and Itai Kuwodza recently presented at the United Nations Youth Council’s Permanent Forum on People of African Descent in Switzerland 🤯🎊

With the support of mentors Lerato Chondoma (Associate Vice President, EDI-AR), Janique Ellis (Coordinator, Black Student Affairs), and Marissa Walter (Psychologist, Acadia Counselling Centre), these students stepped confidently into this international space, sharing their voices and perspectives on a global stage.

“There is something magical about being surrounded and supported by Black mentors who are certain of your capability, knowledge, and authority. They stood behind me, uplifted me, and carried confidence until I found my own. When my voice shook or I stumbled over my words, I couldn’t help but smile because I was speaking at the UN, and people were listening, nodding, and seeing value in my statement.” - Michaela Dankwa, Master of Applied Kinesiology candidate

University should be a place for students to explore their passions & find their community of people with shared interests….that's part of what makes the Acadia Centre for Critical Play (ACCP), well, critical!

Dr. Jon Saklofske (English and Theatre), Dr. Natalie Swain (History and Classics), and Mike Beazley (Academic Librarian) have come together to create a research centre from a humanities perspective that focuses on examining and working with ✨ video games ✨

"Typically you're used to essays or tests, but this is a new realm entirely. It's a very deeply thoughtful process, and that was an experience that provided me a different kind of literacy." - Gwen Trombley, education student

The ACCP has become a space on campus where students, employees, and even members of the community can experience and study the history of this art form directly.
