So beautiful, in fact, that we often hear the phrase, “I visited the campus and fell in love with it.” Just steps beyond Acadia’s campus you can explore a lavish natural environment that includes the world’s highest tides, vineyards, woodland trails, farmlands, bustling markets, quaint shops, art galleries, a thriving live theatre scene, the tidal mudflats of the Bay of Fundy (one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World), and some of the most delicious culinary experiences on Earth. What's more, our location in the heart of Annapolis Valley provides students with access to a variety of ecosystems often used in field-based research and course work, providing a rich balance of both indoor and outdoor laboratory experiences. Founded in 1838, Acadia University is one of the oldest and most respected liberal arts universities in Canada. Located just a one-hour drive from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Acadia is an integral part of the quintessential college town of Wolfville, overlooking the Annapolis Valley and the Bay of Fundy. Work closely with professors, volunteer within the community, study abroad, enjoy world-class co-op placements, and engage in real-world research. Acadia’s four faculties – Arts, Pure and Applied Sciences, Professional Studies, and Theology – offer more than 200 degree combinations across undergraduate and graduate programs.

#4 - With 8-acres of interactive clues, obstacles, and of course, lots and lots of corn, conquering the Noggins Corn Maze is no small feat 😎💪

#5 - Nobody does fall whimsy better than the Kentville Pumpkin People festival 🥰✨

As an Acadia alum and now Indigenous Student Advisor on campus, Jordan is actively creating the kind of community she once needed herself.

From Mi'kmaq History Month activities to support navigating resources, from Midwinter Feasts to movie nights, Jordan's mission is to support Indigenous students' academic success and wellness.

Meet Nik Cutcliffe Kymlicka (’26)—our FIRST Certificate in Democratic Leadership graduate as of this spring 👏🎓

Supported by the Jarislowsky Foundation, this newest five-course undergraduate certificate at Acadia combines a strong foundation in political theory with opportunities to apply that learning in practical contexts.

From a meeting with the Deputy Clerk of the House of Commons to an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Centre Block rehabilitation project on Parliament Hill, for Nik, the most impactful learning took place outside the classroom.

“I got to see the finalized plans of Parliament, along with how it is progressing, and some of the history of the building. The Deputy Clerk taught us about his role in Parliament and the process of passing laws in Canada.” - Nik Cutcliffe Kymlicka (’26)

Whether pursuing this certificate alongside an undergrad degree or as a stand-alone credential, this certificate is available on campus and online now and will be offered in a fully asynchronous format beginning in 2027 (the only certificate of its kind among Canada’s five Jarislowsky Chair institutions).

How special it is to see our community come together in honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day🧡

Yesterday and over the weekend we saw creativity and conversations spark across campus - something we see all year-round but are especially looking forward to over the next few weeks as we move into Mi'kmaq History Month.

"With the guidance of Mi'kmaw Elders and our partners in Glooscap First Nation, Jijiktukwej L’nue’kati (Annapolis Valley First Nation), Wasoqopa’q First Nation, and Bear River First Nation, we are working to build an Acadia that advances Indigeneity and decolonization through sustained listening, learning, and partnership. Here's some good news for healthcare in the Annapolis Valley 👏

This fall, Acadia's School of Nursing officially launches as an independently administered program, marking an exciting new chapter for nursing education in Nova Scotia.

“This program is essential to the health and well-being of our region, not only in educating outstanding nurses, but in helping to build the connections and opportunities that will encourage highly skilled healthcare professionals to stay and build their careers here.” - Dr. Ashlee Cunsolo, Provost & Vice-President Academic

Not only will the program continue to help address the growing need for nurses across the region, but the new curriculum being developed in partnership with L'nu Nursing will also help ensure we're creating leaders in nursing ethics, cultural safety, and community wellness

The Active for Life (AFL) program is a community-based exercise program delivered by our Centre of Lifestyle Studies tailored to the needs of older adults across the Annapolis Valley.

“I can understand how someone might look at AFL and think it's 'just' a fitness program, but the bigger picture is immeasurably positive. Participants get physically, mentally, and socially stronger. Instead of occupying hospital beds, emergency rooms, and nursing homes, they're out living their lives.” - Dr. Jonathon Fowles, Director of Acadia’s Centre of Lifestyle Studies and Health and Wellness Institute
