Geneva Centre of Humanitarian Studies Our Centre is a leading platform for humanitarian continuing education and research, based within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva.

The Geneva Centre of Humanitarian Studies, part of the University of Geneva, is a unique platform for teaching, research, and dialogue in the field of humanitarian action. For over 25 years, we have been preparing humanitarian professionals to respond effectively and ethically to today’s most complex crises. Located in Geneva’s humanitarian hub and working closely with partners such as Médecins Sans Frontières and the International Committee of the Red Cross, we combine academic excellence with field-based experience. Through our education and research, we strengthen the capacity of humanitarian actors worldwide — equipping them with the analytical tools, critical thinking, and evidence-based knowledge needed to shape a more accountable and transformative humanitarian system. Together, we are shaping the future of humanitarian professionals.

🎓 Our new Executive Master in Humanitarian Action is officially underway!

We’re delighted to welcome the first cohort of our redesigned MAS in Humanitarian Action. This year's participants form an exceptionally diverse group of professionals joining us from across the globe.

Coming from 19 countries across 5 continents, the majority marked by crisis, they represent a vast range of professional and cultural backgrounds, and bring with them a rich variety of experiences, expertise and perspectives. This diversity is truly at the heart of the learning experience, allowing participants to share insights, challenge ideas, and learn from one another throughout the programme.

This is also the first cohort to experience the MAS’s new structure, built around stackable micro-credentials. The programme is now made up of a series of focused courses that can be combined towards the full MAS.

👇 The diagram gives you a glimpse of the programme's pathway, highlighting the new courses and learning opportunities available to participants.

🥁 And the most exciting part? In February, the cohort will come together in Geneva for two weeks of in-person learning, meetings and exchanges with humanitarian organisations, practitioners and experts from across International Geneva.

We simply can't wait to meet all our students in person and wish them a rewarding and inspiring learning journey in the months ahead!

🔹 Insights into current sector trends shaping people-centred and inclusive programming, including localisation and accountability to affected people
🔹 Practical information on participation, workload, and certification
🔹 An opportunity to ask questions directly to the course team
