"Completing my MBA in Sustainability Management at SUMAS has been a transformative journey that has shaped both my professional growth and personal perspective. The program challenged me to think more strategically about how sustainability drives innovation, resilience, and long-term value.

What I valued most was learning sustainability from a European perspective. It broadened my understanding of ESG, biodiversity, circular economy principles, and global sustainability frameworks. Working in operations at the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, Canada's largest port, I gained a greater appreciation for how these concepts can help balance efficient trade with environmental stewardship while building more resilient port operations.

🌊 Celebrating student achievement and thought leadership in the Blue Economy

We are delighted to share that Partho Pratim Chatterjee, a member of the SUMAS community, has been featured in the Indian newspaper Prabhat Khabar under its prestigious “40 Under 40” editorial column.

His recently published article, “Towards a Sustainable Economy through Blue Economy,” explores how the sustainable use of ocean resources can contribute to economic growth, innovation, energy transition, climate resilience, and the protection of marine ecosystems.

From offshore wind and green hydrogen to seaweed cultivation, mangrove protection, marine biotechnology, and sustainable coastal development, Partho highlights the opportunities—and the challenges—of building a future economy that works with the ocean rather than at its expense.
