On the weekend of 13 and 14 June 2026, several UNESCO World Heritage sites across Switzerland will open their doors with special programs, inviting visitors to celebrate the country’s natural and cultural treasures.

The motto β€˜You only want to protect what you know’ aptly summarises the purpose of the World Heritage Days. Special programs and open doors create the opportunity for people to experience and understand their World Heritage sites at first hand. This not only raises awareness of cultural heritage, but also promotes pride and identification with one's own region.

✨️ This is the perfect opportunity to discover UNESCO World Heritage sites from a new perspective and enjoy meaningful experience in these outstanding places!

At the beginning of the month, as part of our Tourism Stories Hub taught by Claudio Visentin, we explored the world of historic cars thanks to the contributions of several guest speakers.

✨️ From discovering the historic Campione d’Italia circuit and the project for its revival, to understanding how historic cars represent a testament to our past and a heritage that deserves to be preserved; from meeting drivers and admiring the Fiat 508 Barchetta owned by a collector and racing enthusiast, to learning more about the Tazio Nuvolari Museum dedicated to the legendary driver; and from visiting Campione d’Italia and its iconic casino, this was an insightful week in which our students gained a deeper understanding of the historic motoring world and its connection with tourism.

On Tuesday 5 May, Giuseppe Redaelli will deliver a lecture titled "On the Roads of Time – Historic Cars, Between Collecting, Memory and Tourism” as part of the Master in International Tourism, and in collaboration with and . Giuseppe Redaelli is the president of FIA International Historic Commission and of the Autodromo di Monza. His lecture will take place in Room 355 (Main Building), West Campus and will begin at 18:00. Everyone interested is welcome to join!

πŸš— Historic cars are not merely a passion for collectors, they are also a precious testament to our past and our material culture, a heritage to be preserved and kept alive and visible on our roads in the form of a moving museum. Classic motoring generates significant, yet often underestimated economic benefits, as demonstrated by numerous events and re-enactment organised around the world, including the successful attempt to revive the historical Campione d’Italia circuit, the shortest circuit in the world. The future of this sector is therefore promising, but it also comes with various challenges.

✨️ We look forward to seeing you there!
