On October 7, an open lecture titled “EXPO 2027 Belgrade, Serbia: A Case Study in Event Management” took place at USI in Lugano.

Drawing on his experience as former CEO of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, Dr. Dušan Borovčanin shared valuable insights into the challenges and strategies behind organising major international events, highlighting their role in tourism, destination development, and global visibility.

A great opportunity to explore how large-scale events can shape destinations and create new opportunities for the tourism industry.

A look back at the inauguration of Francesco e l’abito perfetto. Thank you to everyone who joined for the inauguration and shared this special moment with us.

Marking the 800th anniversary of the death of Francis of Assisi, the exhibition offers a unique perspective on his relationship with clothing. Born into a world shaped by fine fabrics and textile craftsmanship, Francis transformed his knowledge of clothing into something deeply symbolic.

Curated by Lorenzo Cantoni, Alessandro Tosi and Diego Fiorini.

The exhibition is open to the public from 4 to 17 October.

The exam session has just ended, which means the semester has come to an end as well! A big congratulations to all our students for pushing through this stressful period. It is now time to enjoy a well-deserved summer break.

👉 But before fully switching into break mode, here’s a little recap of our semester.

From our study tour in Greece to internships, from meeting inspiring professionals and guest speakers to welcoming new classmates who joined along the way, from field visits to exploring what Lugano and its surroundings have to offer in our free time, this is what our semester looked like!

✨️ We begin the summer with wonderful memories and look forward to the next semester, which will surely be just as memorable!

Meet our International Tourism students and learn about their individual travels as future tourism professionals. This series is an opportunity for students to share their experience and reflect on their own travel choices and behaviours while connecting classroom concepts to real-life situations, including topics such as eTourism and sustainability.

✨️ During the Easter break, a group of students from the first-year decided to go on a trip together to the Lago di Garda in Northern Italy. See how studying tourism shaped their trip, especially their reflections on destination choice, slow and sustainable tourism.

On the weekend of 13 and 14 June 2026, several UNESCO World Heritage sites across Switzerland will open their doors with special programs, inviting visitors to celebrate the country’s natural and cultural treasures.

The motto ‘You only want to protect what you know’ aptly summarises the purpose of the World Heritage Days. Special programs and open doors create the opportunity for people to experience and understand their World Heritage sites at first hand. This not only raises awareness of cultural heritage, but also promotes pride and identification with one's own region.

✨️ This is the perfect opportunity to discover UNESCO World Heritage sites from a new perspective and enjoy meaningful experience in these outstanding places!

🚗 𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐎𝐀𝐃𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄

At the beginning of the month, as part of our Tourism Stories Hub taught by Claudio Visentin, we explored the world of historic cars thanks to the contributions of several guest speakers.

✨️ From discovering the historic Campione d’Italia circuit and the project for its revival, to understanding how historic cars represent a testament to our past and a heritage that deserves to be preserved; from meeting drivers and admiring the Fiat 508 Barchetta owned by a collector and racing enthusiast, to learning more about the Tazio Nuvolari Museum dedicated to the legendary driver; and from visiting Campione d’Italia and its iconic casino, this was an insightful week in which our students gained a deeper understanding of the historic motoring world and its connection with tourism.
