Dipesh Chakrabarty is Lawrence A. Kimpton Distinguished Service Professor in History, South Asian Languages and Civilizations at the Department of History, University of Chicago (https://history.uchicago.edu/directory/dipesh-chakrabarty). He is a renowned scholar in current debates on the Anthropocene and fosters to rethink the science of history with regards to human-nature interactions. Among others, his work addresses the relationships between the activities of humans (as species) and climate change with an emphasis on postcolonial debates, and capitalist and democratic developments with a regional focus on South Asia.
