Thank you for joining our third event this semester with Luxcara! 💚

Special thanks to Theresia Langosz-Römbell, Lorenz Hahn, and Tim Saure for sharing their insights into clean energy infrastructure investments and their journeys from HSG to Luxcara.

Participants learned about Luxcara’s investment strategy across the full clean energy value chain and tackled a hands-on case study, evaluating the financing and risk profile of a solar PV project in Greece. The event concluded with an apéro for further networking and discussions.

Key takeaways:
• Luxcara invests across the entire clean energy chain: generation, storage, distribution, and consumption.
• Storage is key to balancing intermittent renewable energy like solar and wind.
• Supply chains, especially in solar and wind, heavily rely on Chinese manufacturers.
• The investment process from deal sourcing to acquisition is fast-paced (a few months), but construction and operation management can take several years.
• Investment strategies must balance risk mitigation through PPAs with opportunities on the open market to maximize returns.

Luxcara is an independent asset manager offering equity and debt investment opportunities to international investors in global clean energy infrastructure market. The Hamburg-based company acquires, structures, finances and operates clean infrastructure projects with a long-term, buy-build-operate approach for the clean energy transition.

What to expect:
A company presentation by Lorenz Hahn (Investment manager, HSG-MBF 2017), Tim Saure (Investment Analyst, HSG-MBF 2024) and Theresa Langosz-Römbell (Organisation Development, CSR and Communications Manager, HSG-MOK 2016).
A Case study with Luxcara to dive into the world of clean energy infrastructure investments

Thank you for your great interest and attendance at our second event this semester with Allianz Global Investors DACH. 💚💙

We would like to thank Nadia Nikolova and Michael Schütze for their valuable insights into the company as well as sharing their expertise on financing the SDGs in emerging markets.

The event concluded with an apéro that allowed attendees to engage and network with like-minded students 🥂

Did you know❓
- Insurers have to work towards sustainability due to natural disasters becoming more unpredictable with growing climate change. This would mean certain scenarios become uninsurable.
- Only 3 % of European insurance fixed-income investments go to emerging markets.
- Access and risks, like governance and liquidity risk, limit capital flows to emerging markets.
- Allianz Global Investors’ SDG Loan Fund has partnered with FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank and MacArthur Foundation and managed to raise $1.1 billion to offer investors an uncorrelated investment vehicle to diversify their portfolio and reduce volatility.

The SIC is thrilled to announce an upcoming event: The Sustainable Investment Challenge!⭐️

Join us to see how HSG Master’s students have developed their own innovative sustainable finance products, which they will present as part of the renowned Kellogg-Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investing Challenge. This global competition is organized annually by Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management in collaboration with Morgan Stanley. Following the presentations, a jury will select the best projects.

🧑🏽‍🎓A few weeks ago, our strategic partner, Blue Earth Capital, hosted a workshop in the master’s course, “Sustainable Investment Challenge”, a course designed by Prof. Nerlinger in collaboration with our club!

💡 During the session, students gained valuable insights into Blue Earth Capital’s approach to impact investing and how it shapes their investment strategies and impact management. The students applied these insights to real-world case studies, which they presented, sparking engaging and insightful discussions.

👏🏻 We would like to thank Blue Earth Capital for allowing HSG students to deepen their understanding of impact investing and look forward to continuing this valuable collaboration.
