The mission of the Commodity Club is to provide an insight for its members into the commodity industry and to develop a close relation between students of the University of St.Gallen and representatives of the commodity industry. The association aims to create a platform for commodity enthusiasts through a series of lectures and panel discussions, where the current development in the commodity markets and their future opportunities and challenges will be discussed.

The Brent, the global benchmark for oil, jumped to a six-months high close to $50. Threats to the production in Nigeria and a booming Indian economy stimulated this movement.

Analysts at Goldman Sachs think the US benchmark will average $45 during the second quarter of this year and will continue doing so until the first quarter of next year. "Rising supplies from low-cost Opec producers and fewer supply disruptions" could result into a surplus, they argue.
