Monarch Switzerland is pleased to celebrate the recent scholarly achievement of doctoral researcher Janine Zitianellis through the publication of her new peer-reviewed book chapter:

Integrating Health Behaviour and AI/ML Theories: A Case for Pre-Screening Prediction in Industry-Sponsored Clinical Trials

Janine’s research explores the intersection of artificial intelligence, behavioural science, and healthcare innovation, demonstrating how technology and human-centred inquiry can work together to improve clinical research processes and patient engagement.

This publication reflects the type of interdisciplinary and socially relevant research encouraged within the Monarch doctoral community—research designed not only to advance knowledge, but also to address real-world challenges with meaningful impact.

Please join us in congratulating Janine on this important publication milestone. https://umonarch.ch/2026/05/12/phd-candidate-janine-zitianellis-publishes-book-chapter-on-ai-ml-and-clinical-trial-recruitment/

Most people think of a PhD as a single destination—the completion of a dissertation.

At Monarch Switzerland, we approach doctoral study differently.

We view it as a structured journey, where candidates progressively develop as researchers—from the Master-in-Passing (M.Phil.) through to the PhD, and in some cases, onward to a second doctoral degree.

This model reflects a European academic tradition that recognizes something important:

Becoming a researcher is not a moment—it is a process.

Our latest article outlines this doctoral architecture and how it supports both academic rigor and professional development.

Monarch Switzerland is pleased to share that Dr. Norman Madarasz has presented his latest research at the École Normale Supérieure, one of the world’s most respected institutions in philosophy and the social sciences.

Invited by Patrice Maniglier, Dr. Madarasz will take part in a distinguished seminar exploring contemporary developments in structuralism and philosophy.

His presentation examines a profound question: do different knowledge systems reflect multiple realities, or are they expressions of a deeper shared structure of thought?

Drawing on indigenous perspectives from Brazil, France, and Canada, his work challenges conventional ways of thinking and opens new avenues for understanding how knowledge is formed across cultures.

At Monarch, we are proud to support faculty who actively contribute to global academic dialogue and push the boundaries of interdisciplinary research.

We are proud to announce the approval of Ms. Catherine Echeozo’s doctoral research proposal at Monarch Business School Switzerland.

Her study, “Towards a Sustainable Future: A PSR Framework for Leadership Action Within Organizations,” challenges the traditional understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility by asking a bold question:

What if responsibility does not belong to corporations — but to the leaders who guide them?

While global CSR spending reaches trillions of dollars annually, progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals remains slow. This research proposes a shift toward Personal Social Responsibility (PSR), positioning leaders as conscious moral agents capable of driving authentic, sustainable change.

By integrating leadership theory, ethics, social justice, and congruency theory, the study seeks to bridge the gap between ethical intention and practical action.

At Monarch, we believe doctoral research should not only advance scholarship but shape the future of leadership practice. We look forward to following this important journey.

Monarch Switzerland is pleased to share the Call for Submissions for the 2026 ACUNS Annual Meeting, which will take place from 1–3 July 2026 at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa in Portugal.

As an Institutional Member of the Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS) since 2010, Monarch is proud to support this important global forum. The Annual Meeting brings together scholars, practitioners, UN officials, and students to explore the future of multilateral cooperation under the theme:

✨ “Multilateralism Under Challenge & the Future of the Pact” ✨

ACUNS welcomes submissions of papers, policy briefs, roundtables, and research–policy tools in areas such as global governance, peace and security, human rights, climate change, technology, digital governance, inequality, and international law.

This event aligns strongly with Monarch’s mission and our expanding doctoral programs, including the PhD in International Relations and the PhD in Economics. We encourage members of the Monarch community — and the wider research and policy network — to consider submitting their work. We look forward to seeing Monarch scholars contribute to this important global conversation.
