It was both academic in nature, and a beautiful picture to behold. Thirty five Medical Laboratory Science students were quizzed before juries as they defended their dissertation work as final year students.

Their joy, smiles and laughter was beyond compare as all 35 were evaluated with positive scores and a recommendation for the Senate of the University of Buea. Family, friends and the Faculty of Health Sciences FHS UB community turned out massively to cheer and celebrate with the students.

It was a hectic activity for the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, whose success on helped showcase the dutiful and successful stewardship of the Head of Department - Professor Ngemenya Moses N., and team.

The Faculty of Health Sciences is proud to have experienced the Launch of the NIH-funded D-SINE Africa Project.

The DATA SCIENCE CENTER FOR STUDY OF SUGERY, INJURY AND EQUITY IN AFRICA Project is one of two research projects under the U54 Funding Mechanism.

The Principal Investigator and Professor of Surgery, Professor Chichom Mefire Alain explained the nature and scientific aspects as well as deliverables of the projects, demonstrating how the projects will decrease the burden of injuries and surgical diseases through surveillance, prevention and treatment and also improve access to quality care.

Professor Ngomo Horace Manga, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buea congratulated the PI and challenged the project team to work hard towards not only achieving the objectives of the project but also bringing in the much needed solace and solutions to the problem of injury and accidents which are more fatal as they cause higher death rates than HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria put together.

The University of Buea is running the projects with partners such as AIMS - Cameroon; University of California-Berkeley USA; University of Cape Town - South Africa, University of California-Los Angeles.

In our , and the pursuit for quality medical education, the Faculty of Health Sciences kicked off the First Semester Examinations for the 2021/2022 academic year in calm and serenity. Undergraduate students from different departments started exams in their different courses with a deep resolve to perform higher than before.

The faculty boasts of a competent Administration that organizes examinations of high academic and moral standards.

It's in a solemn mood and an atmosphere preparedness for academic excellence that the First Semester 2020/2032 Post Graduate (PG) examinations kicked off today Thursday 04th March 2021.

Alongside the PG students, were first year students (Level 200) in all undergraduate programs, locked in and focused on making the best in their first examination experience at the Faculty of Health Sciences, FHS-UB.

The students that we could talk to confirmed that the adequate course work coverage and preparation got them ready for the exams.

Ouambo Fotso Herve thrilled both audience and jury in a high level presentation and academic discourse as he defended his PhD in Chemical Pathology.

Mr. Ouambo makes history today as he successfully defended the first PhD Chemical Pathology at the Faculty of Health Sciences FHS UB from the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, University of BUEA.

The jury, composed of Achidi Eric Akum Assob Nguedia Jules Clement, Nick Tendongfor and others were impressed with the strides made by Mr. Ouambo and the contribution to the vision of innovation in Malaria Vaccine.
