Over the past years, as the Founder of Fotabe University of Cameroon- FUNIC Cameroon, I have had the privilege of mentoring many of young people. One thing has become increasingly clear to me: we have been asking them the wrong question.

We keep asking them, “What do you want to study?” when perhaps we should first be asking, “What do you want to become?”

That simple question inspired me to create the FUNIC Discovery Passport. It is a fun, interactive career orientation handbook that helps young people discover the four career pathways through which graduates create wealth and build successful careers. Through games, missions, puzzles and challenges, it helps students identify the pathway that best matches their interests before deciding what to study.

Like many of the ideas I have created over the years, I know this one too will eventually be copied. And that’s okay. Real innovation does not stop at creating one idea. It keeps creating the next one. My hope is that this innovation will inspire better career guidance for young people everywhere.

I believe that when a young person first discovers who they want to become, choosing what to study becomes much easier.

Choosing to study abroad is a big decision. Before you apply, ask yourself these important questions:
