The Lord is gracious and His mercy endures forever ππ½
In a profound celebration of faith and apostolic tradition, the faithful gathered today at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral Buea for the sacred ordination of eight new priests; Rev. Fr. Augustine Ebot, Rev. Fr. Serge Ngassa, Rev. Fr. Victor Suly, Rev. Fr. Clifford Zong Che, Rev. Fr. Cyril Nike Foguh, Rev. Fr. Evans Njuabe, Rev. Fr. Evaristus Mukong and Rev. Fr. Karl John Kini, into the Holy Mother Church.
Presided over by His Lordship Michael Bibi, the Eucharistic celebration began with a solemn procession, ushering the congregation into a deeply spiritual encounter marked by prayer, sacred music, and the proclamation of the Word of God. The presence of the Governor of the South West Region, Bernard Okalia Bilai, underscored the significance of this ecclesial milestone.
In keeping with the rich traditions of the Catholic Church, the candidates were called forth and presented before the Bishop, humbly expressing their readiness to serve. Through the laying on of hands and the Prayer of Ordination, they were consecrated, anointed, and clothed in priestly vestmentsβconfigured to Christ, the Eternal High Priest, and entrusted with the sacred duty of offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and administering the Sacraments.
In his homily, Bishop Bibi exhorted the newly ordained to remain steadfast in holiness, obedience, and selfless service, highlighting the growth of the Diocese with 46 priests ordained over the past five years, and eight more added today to labor in the Lordβs vineyard.
The celebration was further enriched by thanksgiving offerings from the families, a visible sign of gratitude and communion within the Body of Christ, as well as soul-lifting hymns that elevated the sacred atmosphere.
As the Church rejoices in this gift of vocations, we pray that these newly ordained priests may be faithful stewards of Godβs mysteries, guided by grace and strengthened in their mission to serve God and His people.
