The Marketing Internship Program at the station over the weekend officially came to a successful close, leaving behind a trail of growth, creativity, and hands-on experience for participating students.

Over the course of the training, interns were taken through a structured journeyβ€”starting from understanding the operations of a radio station, to mastering the fundamentals of marketing in broadcasting, digital promotion, and audience engagement. Each session was carefully designed to blend theory with practice, giving students a real feel of the media environment.

As the days progressed, participants developed practical skills in content creation, script writing, advert production, and social media management. They also explored voice training and presentation techniques, building the confidence needed to step behind the microphone and deliver effectively.

By the final sessions, students were able to apply their knowledge through group projects and presentations, showcasing creative marketing campaigns and on-air content. Their performance reflected a strong grasp of the training, with an estimated 90% of the program’s objectives successfully achieved.

Beyond the classroom, the experience fostered teamwork, innovation, and a deeper appreciation of the role media plays in society. For many, it was not just a trainingβ€”but a transformative journey into the world.

As the program wrapped up, emotions were highβ€”gratitude, excitement, and renewed ambition filled the atmosphere. The students departed with smiles, valuable skills, and unforgettable memories, ready to take on new challenges and opportunities ahead.

Mic check, 1-2! 🎀 It was all about Clarity, Tone, and Presence.

Teaching the Spotlight Comprehensive College interns how to bridge the gap between marketing strategy and on-air delivery. We practiced:
βœ… Diaphragm breathing for vocal power.
βœ… Tongue twisters for crystal-clear articulation.
βœ… The art of the 'Hook' to grab a listener's attention in 5 seconds.

Marketing isn't just about what you say; it’s about how you say it. Watching these students step out of their comfort zones and into the booth was pure magic! 🎧πŸ”₯

Tension gripped Barombi Kang this morning as a group of determined women staged a protest at the main entrance into Kumba, blocking the highway over a prolonged electricity blackout.

Visibly frustrated, the women decried months of unstable and, in some cases, complete power failureβ€”describing the situation as unbearable for their households, businesses, and daily survival. Armed with placards, protest songs, and unwavering resolve, they occupied the road, bringing traffic to a standstill and leaving commuters stranded for hours.

Residents say the persistent outage has dealt a heavy blow to small-scale businesses, particularly those dependent on electricity such as cold stores, hair salons, and other essential services. Many report significant financial losses and worsening living conditions.

β€œWe are suffering. Our food gets spoiled, our businesses are collapsing, and our children cannot study at night,” one protester lamented, echoing a sentiment widely shared across the community.

The demonstration caused major disruption along the Kumba–Buea road, with long queues of vehicles stretching on both sides. Some passengers were forced to continue their journeys on foot as the blockade persisted.

Local authorities and security forces later arrived on the scene to assess the situation and initiate dialogue with the protesters. While calm has been maintained, the women remain resolute, insisting they will not vacate the streets until concrete steps are taken to restore electricity.

As of now, no official communication has been issued by the electricity authorities regarding the cause of the outage or a timeline for restoration.

The situation remains under close watch, as residents hold onto hope for a swift and lasting solution to the crisis.

The Lord is gracious and His mercy endures forever πŸ™πŸ½

In a profound celebration of faith and apostolic tradition, the faithful gathered today at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral Buea for the sacred ordination of eight new priests; Rev. Fr. Augustine Ebot, Rev. Fr. Serge Ngassa, Rev. Fr. Victor Suly, Rev. Fr. Clifford Zong Che, Rev. Fr. Cyril Nike Foguh, Rev. Fr. Evans Njuabe, Rev. Fr. Evaristus Mukong and Rev. Fr. Karl John Kini, into the Holy Mother Church.

Presided over by His Lordship Michael Bibi, the Eucharistic celebration began with a solemn procession, ushering the congregation into a deeply spiritual encounter marked by prayer, sacred music, and the proclamation of the Word of God. The presence of the Governor of the South West Region, Bernard Okalia Bilai, underscored the significance of this ecclesial milestone.

In keeping with the rich traditions of the Catholic Church, the candidates were called forth and presented before the Bishop, humbly expressing their readiness to serve. Through the laying on of hands and the Prayer of Ordination, they were consecrated, anointed, and clothed in priestly vestmentsβ€”configured to Christ, the Eternal High Priest, and entrusted with the sacred duty of offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and administering the Sacraments.

In his homily, Bishop Bibi exhorted the newly ordained to remain steadfast in holiness, obedience, and selfless service, highlighting the growth of the Diocese with 46 priests ordained over the past five years, and eight more added today to labor in the Lord’s vineyard.

The celebration was further enriched by thanksgiving offerings from the families, a visible sign of gratitude and communion within the Body of Christ, as well as soul-lifting hymns that elevated the sacred atmosphere.

As the Church rejoices in this gift of vocations, we pray that these newly ordained priests may be faithful stewards of God’s mysteries, guided by grace and strengthened in their mission to serve God and His people.

The ongoing Marketing Internship Program at the station from the S.C.C TIKO (Spotlight Comprehensive College) of Form 5 and U6th Commercial continue to shape a new generation of media-minded students, as activities successfully reached Day Four with remarkable progress.

From the very first day, interns were introduced to the inner workings of a radio stationβ€”understanding how different units collaborate to inform, entertain, and engage audiences. By Day Two, the focus shifted to the basics of marketing in broadcasting, where students explored audience targeting, branding, and the power of radio advertising.

Day Three opened up the digital space, giving interns practical exposure to social media management and digital marketing strategies. Students learned how to manage platforms, schedule content effectively, and apply engagement techniques that keep audiences connected to the station. They were also introduced to essential digital tools used in modern broadcasting.

By Day Four, the program moved into content creation, where creativity met practice. Interns were trained on how to write radio scripts, develop adverts, and craft catchy slogans that resonate with listeners. The highlight of the day was a hands-on exercise, as students produced their own 30-second radio adverts, applying everything learned so far.

With two more days to go, the journey now heads into voice training, presentation skills, and project executionβ€”promising an even more exciting and practical experience for these future media professionals.

A significant step toward strengthening workers’ voices in Cameroon’s banana sector was recorded on April 8, 2026, as delegates converged in Tiko for the Ordinary Congress of the National Federation of Trade Unions of Workers of the Banana Sub-Sector.

Held at the CDC SS Club, the gathering brought together over 50 delegates from five trade unions, all committed to fostering unity, collaboration, and stronger representation for banana workers nationwide.

At the end of deliberations, *Ngome Oscar Eboulle* was re-elected as Federal President, reaffirming confidence in his leadership. His renewed mandate places emphasis on transparency, inclusivenessβ€”especially women’s participationβ€”and effective collaboration within the sector.

He will be supported by a newly elected team including *Agbor Valentine* as Vice President and *Gabriel Vefonge Mbene* as Secretary General. Additionally, seven technical commissions were established to reinforce the work of the executive bureau.

The congress opened on a solemn note with prayers and the national anthem, followed by strong calls for unity and solidarity among workers. Special recognition was given to promoters of the federation, including four outstanding women, highlighting the growing role of women in union leadership.

In his address, the Secretary General traced the federation’s progress since its creation in 2008, noting its growing influence and international recognition through the International Union of Food Workers. He further emphasized that five out of seven trade unions in Cameroon’s banana sector are already part of the federationβ€”an achievement seen as a foundation for greater impact.
