Renmin University of China has a long tradition of specializing in research and training programs
in various disciplines of humanities and social sciences. Our rich experience in research and education on China and extensive international academic exchange ties put us in a premier position to offer this Contemporary China Studies program. The two-year program is designed to offer a comprehensive introduction to the economy, politics, law, society, and foreign policy of China in the contemporary period. Each student in the program works directly with a Renmin University faculty member, who is responsible for assisting the student in pursuit of his/her area of particular interest. In addition to course work, the curriculum includes organized visits to government agencies, research institutions, enterprises and the Chinese countryside. Students who successfully complete the curriculum will receive the Master of Law (Political Science) degree, which is recognized by the Ministry of Education of China. Faculty members in the program are specialists in the respective course content areas and have extensive experiences interacting with the international academic community through either degree training in North America and Europe or research in residence for at least half a year. The language of instruction and administration in the Contemporary China Studies program is English. Students can choose to take Chinese language courses in the University, although Chinese language study is not counted toward degree completion.
