Great to host Mr. Watcharapol Malaiwong from the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, Chulalongkorn University under the AUA Staff Exchange Program! During his stay at Tsinghua Medicine, Tsinghua University , he stopped by the AUA Secretariat, where we caught up with him for an interview about his exchange experience.

This exchange opportunity enables cross‑institutional learning across Asian higher‑education institutions, building stronger networks for future administrative and academic collaboration within the AUA community.

The AUA Asia Deep Dive Program (ADDP) 2026, hosted by Universitas Indonesia's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, brought together 20 students from 8 AUA member universities across Asia.

Running from July 20 to 24, the program's online module featured lectures delivered by faculty members of Universitas Indonesia covering geoscience, tectonics and volcanoes, seismology, ethnobiology, as well as Indonesian culture and history. From August 9 to 16, participants took part in the offline segment of ADDP in Indonesia. Site visits included Kebun Raya Bogor, Bosscha Observatory, the Lembang Fault at Gunung Batu, the Geology Museum, the Museum Konferensi Asia‑Afrika, and Saung Angklung Udjo, alongside local culinary experiences.

This program embodies AUA’s commitment to cross‑cultural academic exchange and regional collaboration. It offers AUA students opportunities to learn from scholars native to the region, and also features a diverse range of cultural activities for students to immerse themselves in local culture and engage with local communities.

The AUA-THU Overseas Study Program 2026 — Summer School for Future Power and Energy Systems (FPES) kicked off on August 10 at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University.

Hosted by Tsinghua University, this AUA overseas study program brings together more than 30 young scholars from universities worldwide. Centered on novel power systems and clean energy technologies, the program features distinguished academic lectures, group discussions, technical site visits, and Chinese cultural experiences.

Participants will explore cutting-edge research areas including energy storage, wireless power transfer, solar power generation, power electronics, and ferromagnetic materials. Field trips are arranged to national key laboratories, EV charging & swapping stations, as well as the wind-solar-storage-transmission base in Zhangjiakou.

We look forward to vibrant academic exchanges and inspiring interactions over the next two weeks throught this AUA overseas study program!

From July 4 to 10, the World Nuclear University (WNU) - Tsinghua Week in Conjunction with AUA-THU Overseas Study Program 2026, themed “The Global Nuclear Industry Today," was successfully held in Huludao, Liaoning Province, China.

This year’s event was jointly organized by the World Nuclear Association (WNA), the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology (INET) of Tsinghua University (THU), and the Chinese Nuclear Society (CNS) in collaboration with the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA). It gathered 90 participants from 27 universities & institutions across the globe, including 18 participants from 7 AUA member universities.

Under the theme "The Global Nuclear Industry Today", 17 top global nuclear experts delivered lectures covering advanced reactors, nuclear fuel cycles and industry hotspots. Attendees also took technical tours to Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant and joined interactive academic workshops. This long-running exchange platform keeps advancing nuclear knowledge sharing, talent cultivation and cross-border nuclear collaboration worldwide.

✨ AUA-THU Summer School 2026 Highlight Recap | Tsinghua iCenter Innovation Day ✨
The AUA-THU Summer School 2026 in conjunction with the 4th Tsinghua Global Youth Dialogue (TGYD) Bridging the Divides, Building Youth Partnerships is nearing its end, and July 8 stands out as one of our biggest highlight!

Launched on June 27 in Hangzhou, followed by a two-week adventure across Shanghai and Beijing, the AUA-THU Summer School 2026 unites outstanding student representatives from AUA member universities with over 190 youth leaders from 60 countries and regions.

On July 8, our AUA students spent the whole day at Tsinghua’s century-old Fundamental Industrial Training Center (iCenter) for immersive hands-on sessions: touring advanced engineering labs, crafting elegant Chinese miniature garden eco-bottles, and designing personalized enamel artworks through full firing and polishing processes.

Merging cutting-edge engineering education with traditional Chinese craftsmanship, this session allowed AUA students to experience the fusion of modern innovation and oriental aesthetics.

The 2026 AUA Postgraduate Academic Forum on Immunobiology was held at the School of Basic Medical Sciences, Tsinghua University from June 21 to 23. A total of 21 outstanding postgraduate students participated in the forum, coming from 15 universities and research institutions across 7 countries and regions, among whom 13 students were from 8 member universities of the Asian Universities Alliance.

Bringing together young immunology researchers from multiple countries, the forum featured a diverse array of activities including lectures, presentations, poster sessions and laboratory tours, fully demonstrating the vibrant research momentum of young scholars in immunobiology and its interdisciplinary fields.

Co-organized by the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA), Tsinghua University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the journal Building Simulation, the hybrid-format BAS2026 was successfully held in Hong Kong from June 11 to 13.

Centered on the theme “Climate-Neutral Buildings and Cities”, the conference brought together leading global industrial and academic experts to address urgent climate change challenges and to advance the green, low-carbon and intelligent transformation of the building and urban sectors across the globe.

This high-impact global academic event attracted 375 scholars from 22 countries and regions, among whom 74 researchers are affiliated with six AUA member universities, to jointly explore pathways toward climate-neutral, smart and low-carbon built environments and cities.

The full conference agenda comprised 17 keynote speeches, 27 thematic sub-forums and poster presentations. All submissions underwent rigorous double-blind peer review, presenting cutting-edge research advances in building energy simulation and sustainable urban design.

The 2026 AUA–UM Postgraduate Academic Forum on AI-Powered Insights: The New Era of Data-Driven Intelligence was held on 17–18 April 2026. Organized by Universiti Malaya, this two‑day flagship postgraduate forum focused on cutting‑edge developments in artificial intelligence, data analytics, and trustworthy AI, with four key subthemes covering technical advances, cross‑domain applications, ethical governance, and emerging trends such as generative AI.

Around 100 postgraduate students and researchers from AUA member universities, including United Arab Emirates University, Universitas Indonesia, The University of Tokyo, Chulalongkorn University, Seoul National University, and Universiti Malaya, gathered to explore AI and data-driven technologies, facilitating knowledge sharing, in-depth discussions, and academic collaboration,

Besides AUA students and researchers, speakers from other renowned institutions and industries shared their valuable expertise and insights on AI and data-driven technologies in the forum.
