The Yenching Academy of Peking University aims to build bridges between China and the rest of the world through an interdisciplinary master's program in China Studies. This initiative brings together young people who have demonstrated a talent for leadership and innovation. At Yenching, they are immersed in an intensive learning environment where they can explore China and its role in the world—past, present, and future. The Academy's goal is to shape new generations of global citizens with a nuanced understanding of China. The Yenching Academy provides full fellowships to its scholars, and offers them a wide array of interdisciplinary courses on China within broadly defined fields of the humanities and social sciences. Working closely with their academic mentors, Yenching Scholars create their own study paths by choosing courses from six research areas. They participate in a variety of extracurricular activities and field studies, organized by the Yenching Academy, and designed by scholars themselves. Studying at the Academy is an exceptional opportunity to take part in intercultural exchanges and interdisciplinary learning, developing both personally and professionally.

On September 18, hosted a career workshop themed Career Guide for Global Talents in China, tailored to empower students navigating the Chinese job market.

We were honored to invite Dina Harman, Global Recruiting Lead at FESCO Adecco, as our guest speaker. Drawing on her rich global recruitment experience, Dina shared practical and targeted insights covering core competencies for global talent, tips for resume screening and interviewing with domestic Chinese enterprises, effective job-hunting channels, and actionable strategies to launch career searches in China.

Additionally, Huang Xuesong, Deputy Head of Student Affairs (Career Development) at Yenching Academy, delivered a detailed presentation to students, explaining the full career-planning timeline and key application milestones during students’ studies. She also presented the career achievements of select YCA alumni working across different industries in China and introduced the career development services provided by the Academy.

The session connected industry recruitment expertise with on-campus career resources with the goal of filling information gaps for global talent. Yenching Academy will keep rolling out career events to empower scholars for professional success.

On September 4, D**g Qiang, Dean of gave a lecture titled “A Game of Chinese Characters with Kafka, Giacometti and Picasso: Exploring the Modernization Potential of Traditional Chinese Culture Through Sino-Western Comparison.” Tailored to the new cohort, the lecture was first in the for the 2026‒2027 academic year.

Dean D**g used custom Chinese‑character cards to establish a Sino‑Western dialogue engaging , and . He explored Chinese writing’s ideographic strengths and traditional art philosophies, and warned that AI built on alphabetic languages cannot fully grasp the rich cultural essence of Chinese characters, defending humans’ unique situational wisdom.

On 14 September, hosted a on , led by Yang Jie, an art teacher at Beijing Normal University Second Affiliated High School specialising in Chinese painting, calligraphy education, and traditional Chinese culture.

Students explored the history and key concepts of Song Dynasty landscape painting, learned basic painting techniques, and put them into practice by creating their own landscapes inspired by traditional works.
