Renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship, the Sword of King Goujian, a bronze double-edged sword, still retains its remarkably well-preserved decorative patterns after more than 2,500 years.
Dating back to the late Spring and Autumn Period, this bronze sword bears intricate inscriptions near the guard, confirming it as the sword of King Goujian of Yue. Experts attribute its exceptional state of preservation to a combination of factors, including its high-purity alloy composition and the airtight environment of the burial chamber. The Sword of King Goujian stands as a crowning testament to the brilliance of ancient Chinese history.

The sword holds an extremely prominent status and profound influence in traditional Chinese culture. Known as the "Gentleman of Weapons" and renowned for its agility and superior thrusting capability, it stands out among all classical weapons.
The Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods (770–221 BC) marked the very peak of bronze sword manufacturing and its widespread use. During this time, the states of Wu and Yue relied primarily on infantry armed with swords and shields for combat. Following the rise of cavalry near the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25–220), swords gradually lost their practical edge on the battlefield. They evolved from battlefield weapons into ceremonial artifacts and personal decorative accessories.

Today marks White Dew, the 15th of the 24 solar terms in the traditional Chinese calendar. Its name reflects a distinctive natural phenomenon during this period: as temperatures gradually drop, water v***r in the cool morning air condenses into delicate white dew.
Tang Dynasty (618–907) poet Du Fu once wandered through the autumn landscape during this blissful period and wrote:
"White dew forms on sweet fruit at dawn. Horses' hooves scatter them as they move on. The garden opens to trees by stone; The boat drifts into the river's quiet tone".

To this day, the Chinese spear still carries profound cultural significance. Ancient texts record a tale from the Warring States period (475–221 BC), in which a man from the State of Chu peddled both spears and shields. This story gave rise to the enduring idiom "Maodun" (literally, "spear and shield").
Today, the term refers to contradictions between words and actions, or conflicting viewpoints. It also marks China’s earliest native origin of the logical concept of mutual exclusivity.

The prototype of the Chinese spear dates back to ancient times, and it gradually evolved into a standardized weapon of war. During the Zhou Dynasty (1046–256 BC), two variants of Chinese spears were categorized among the "Five Principal Weapons": Qiumao (shorter spear) and Yimao (longer spear).
With their complementary lengths, these two spears formed a layered tactical system capable of striking in both close quarters and long-range combat. Throughout thousands of years of ancient Chinese military history, whether in infantry engagements, cavalry charges, or chariot battles, the Chinese spear never lost its luster.
