To formulate the "15th Five-Year Plan", President Cong Mingcai led a delegation with Vice President Liu Fengguang to investigate Beijing International Studies University, Beijing Foreign Studies University and University of International Business and Economics. Both sides conducted in-depth exchanges on discipline construction, international talent training, etc., and reached consensus on deepening cooperation in digital-enabled teaching and scientific research to contribute to building a powerful education country.

Good news came from the national finals of the 30th China Daily "21st Century Cup" National English Speech Competition. Guided by Teacher Shi Wenrui, students Yin Hewei and Peng Liren from our university won the National First-Class Award and Second-Class Award respectively. Recognized by the Ministry of Education, the achievement highlights the college's educational philosophy of "promoting learning and teaching through competitions".

The national finals of the 5th China University English Debate Competition (CUDC) 2025 were held online, guided by the MTI Education Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the CATTI Project Management Center of China International Publishing Group. A team composed of 2023-grade students Xia Yuanmeng and Zhang Xixi from our university's School of English won the National Third-Class Award and ranked among the top 80 universities nationwide. Founded in 2021, the competition has seen growing scale and influence, supported by an authoritative academic committee.

Recently, the final of the 8th "Liaoshen Most Outstanding Translator" Competition was held in Shenyang, sponsored by relevant provincial departments and undertaken by Northeast University. It attracted 479 participants from the three northeastern provinces and one autonomous region, including 35 international students from 19 countries. Two international students from our university won the Provincial Third-Class Award. The competition serves as a cultural exchange link, with our university supporting students to promote civilizational mutual learning.

Our university hosted the Multilingual Digital Humanities Innovation Forum, with nearly 150 experts attending and multiple reports and sub-forums held. Vice President Liu Fengguang and Yang Wendi delivered speeches, and the preparation of a special committee was launched. The forum promotes language-AI integration; our university will seize the opportunity to cultivate interdisciplinary talents and contribute to educational powerhouse construction.

Our university held the 2025 Faculty Tennis Tournament, with nearly 30 staff forming 5 teams. Competing via draw-based grouping, single round-robin and "4-game winning" format, the players strived hard with good teamwork, and the champions, runners-up and third place were determined. The event enriched faculty's cultural and sports life, enhancing communication and cohesion.

Recently, the Shanghai Interpretation Accreditation (SIA) Exam, sponsored by Shanghai International Studies University, has officially settled at Dalian University of Foreign Languages, becoming the first official test center in Liaoning Province. This initiative will facilitate candidates in Liaoning and surrounding areas, building a standardized assessment platform. Our university will link talent training with professional evaluation to help cultivate and deliver international interpretation talents.

A delegation led by Jaime Usma Vilches, Colombian Director of the Medellín Confucius Institute and Dean of the Faculty of Languages at the University of Antioquia, visited our university. Vice President Zhao Yong met with the delegation along with relevant department heads. They exchanged views on renewing the cooperation agreement and expanding teacher-student exchanges and academic cooperation, laying a solid foundation for the Confucius Institute's development and China-Colombia educational and cultural mutual learning.

Yang Chunwen, a 2024-grade postgraduate student in English Interpretation at our university's Advanced Institute of Translation, has been admitted to the PhD program in Translation Studies at UCL (UK), to start in 2026, with research focusing on interpreting-related risk communication in crisis and disaster management. During his postgraduate studies, he won the National Scholarship and the third prize in Liaoning Translation Competition, published 7 overseas papers, and was invited to academic conferences. His success demonstrates the university's strong postgraduate training capacity.

The 2025 World Chinese Language Conference was held in Beijing. The MOOC "Gamified Teaching for International Chinese Education" developed by teachers including Jiang Xiangling from our university's International Chinese Education Practice and Research Base won the "Golden Course" title under the conference's "Golden Project" selection. With a sound system and strong practicality, the university will continue to promote the transformation and promotion of such achievements.

The World Chinese Language Conference, themed "Innovation-Led, Digital Intelligence Empowered – Bringing Chinese Closer to the World", opened in Beijing on November 14, 2025. Young Chinese and foreign sinologists shared their experiences in learning and promoting the Chinese language, emphasizing its value in facilitating cultural and civilizational exchanges and mutual learning. The president of Beijing Language and Culture University stated that the university will strengthen the cultivation of sinology talents.

The 5th National Final of CUDC (China University Debate Championship) was held online from November 15th to 16th. The team from our university, composed of Xia Yuanmeng and Zhang Xixi from the School of English Studies, won the National Third Prize and ranked among the top 80 teams nationwide.
