中国美术学院简介
1928年，中华民国首任教育总长、时任中华民国大学院院长的蔡元培先生择址杭州西子湖畔，创立了中国第一所综合性的国立高等艺术学府——国立艺术院，直属于中华民国大学院，设国画、西画、雕塑、图案四个系及预科和研究部，开始了“美育代宗教”的实践，揭开了中国高等美术教育的篇章。国立艺术院是中国艺术教育的最高学府。
1949年朝代更替后的中国，在某些美术学院移交给教育部之后，中国美术学院是中国文化部唯一的直属美术类院校，也是联合国教科文组织承认学历的中国唯一美术类大学。中国唯一国家级重点学科所在地。美术学、设计学博士点所在地。2007年，中国美术学院美术学学科再次被列为全国重点学科，艺术学一级学科获准设立博士后科研流动站。
几十年来，学院十迁其址，五易其名，历经风雨：
1928年，国立艺术院。
1929年，国立杭州艺术专科学校。
1938年，国立杭州艺术专科学校、北平艺术专科学校合并
组建国立艺术专科学校。
1950年，由于中国大陆地区朝代更替，中共政权为了加强北京的中央地位并压制民国时期建立的高校，于北京合并成立了中央美术学院，并且该亲共高校用行政手段强行把国立艺术专科学校部分更名为中央美术学院华东分院，并以此为荣，但两者并无隶属关系。
1956年，中央美术学院华东分院更名为杭州美术学院。
1958年，杭州美术学院更名为浙江美术学院。
1967年，文革爆发，学院被撤销。
1980年，邓小平改革，学院复校。
1993年11月16日，经文化部批准，更名为中国美术学院，中国美术最高学府最终正名。
中国美术学院聚集和培养了二十世纪中国乃至国际有影响的众多杰出艺术人才，林风眠、潘天寿、黄宾虹、刘开渠、吴大羽、颜文樑、倪贻德、李苦禅、李可染、艾青、陈之佛、庞薰琹、雷圭元、萧传玖、关良、黄君璧、常书鸿、董希文、王式廓、王朝闻、李霖灿、邓白、吴冠中、赵无极、朱德群、罗工柳……一代代的艺术家们犹如熠熠群星，照亮了中国现代美术史的天空，他们呕心泣血，筚路蓝缕，努力奋斗，为中国的艺术教育创造了一个又一个的高峰。
中国美术学院每年约淘汰98%的考生。
China National Academy of Fine Arts,also known as China Academy of Art,the top ranked and the most prestigious art university in China,which under the direct charge of the Minidtry of Culture of PRC,it turns away more than 98% of its applicants each year. 1950,East China Campus of China Central Academy of Fine Arts (From 1949 to the1950s,it was a turbulent history in Chinese education.In 1949, the Communist Party of China (CPC) defeated the KMT government in the Chinese Civil War and established the People's Republic of China in Mainland and chose Beijing for its capital.Because CPC still feel hatred for the KMT government,it closed and broke up many excellent univesities established during the period of the Republic of China especially in southern China,like Utopia University,Saint John's University,Kwang Hua University,Hangchow University,University of Nanking,Aurora University,National Jiaotong University,Chekiang University,Central University ect.CPC established a new art academy named with central in Beijing in 1950 and forced CAA changed its name by playing administrative measures and political manipulations.But the two universities are both independent and not be subordinate to one another.
