Zhejiang University (ZJU) is one of China’s top higher education institutions, as well as one of its oldest; its roots can be traced back to 1897 and the founding of the Qiushi Academy. Located in Hangzhou – one of China’s most picturesque cities – the University is organized across seven faculties and 37 schools. It is home to 4,191 full-time faculty members, including 52 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

A research team has developed an AI-driven PROTAC strategy to selectively degrade the CLIP1-LTK fusion protein, a driver of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Published in PNAS, the study showed that DCL05 achieved potent degradation at picomolar concentrations, suppressed tumor cell growth, and overcame resistance associated with multiple mutations — offering a promising new path toward precision cancer therapies. PNAS

🌿💧Can a plant survive without roots or soil? Meet the air plant Tillandsia — a botanical wonder that absorbs water and nutrients directly from the air.

🧬A team led by Professor ZHANG Mingfang from ZJU's College of Agriculture and Biotechnology has uncovered the secret behind its survival. Their genomic research reveals that air plants have largely lost the genes needed for root development. Instead, their leaves evolved specialized scales that capture moisture from the air, store water, and reduce evaporation. Even more amazingly, nitrogen-fixing bacteria on the leaf surface act like a natural fertilizer factory, supplying essential nutrients.
