Four competitions. Four standout results.🏆
🦾Tongji students reached the national top four at RoboMaster 2026, earned three First Prizes in intelligent transportation innovation, a First Prize at an international competition—one of only six awarded worldwide—and six First Prizes in a national innovation competition.
Their projects address real questions: emergency response, safer mobility, smarter road maintenance and urban wildlife protection.

A university shaped by Sino-German exchange continues to build new connections.🤝

🌏A delegation from Hesse, Germany, visited Tongji University for discussions on joint research, student exchange and talent development. Tongji’s partnerships with universities in Hesse already span more than 10 disciplines, connecting fields from engineering and design to the humanities.

The conversations looked ahead to shared challenges including climate change, digital transformation and artificial intelligence—and to the value of giving the next generation more opportunities to learn with one another.

What does the path from clean-energy research to real-world application look like?♻️

🔋A delegation from the European Commission visited Tongji University’s Jiading Campus to explore work in green mobility, hydrogen energy and industry–university collaboration. From fuel-cell systems and battery testing to the Tongji University Science Park, the visit followed a practical chain: research, validation, commercialization and application.

Clean-energy transition depends on more than a single breakthrough. It takes laboratories, shared platforms, industry partners and the people who connect them.

From Roman engineering to service robots, learning took Tongji students far beyond the classroom.🚌

🇮🇹Twenty-two undergraduate students from Tongji’s Department of Control Science and Engineering spent 13 days in Italy, engaging with the University of Florence, the University of Bologna and Politecnico di Torino. At Tongji’s Florence Campus, conversations on connected vehicles met reflections on art and technology. In Turin, students stepped into real research settings for service robotics, linking control, sensing and communication with the systems they study.
Rome, Florence and Bologna became part of the curriculum too. A summer of ideas, cities and new perspectives.

AI is not only about speed or scale. It is also about trust.🦾

At the 2026 WAIC Intelligent Society Forum, co-hosted by Tongji University and Shanghai's Yangpu District on July 18, scholars and practitioners discussed AI ethics, safety, law, public services and everyday urban life.
The forum also unveiled an AI ethics review and service base.
For Tongji, responsible AI starts with a practical question: who does it serve, and can people trust it?

What happens when autonomous intelligence leaves the lab?💭

On July 17, the WAIC 2026 Frontier and Application Forum on Autonomous Intelligent Unmanned Systems was held at Tongji University, bringing academicians, researchers and industry experts together to discuss algorithms, extreme-environment equipment, intelligent networks and safety governance.
From embodied navigation to an intelligent robotic bird, this was AI built for real-world systems, and the conversation happened at Tongji.

WAIC 2026 opened in Shanghai on July 17, and Tongji brought AI into real-world questions. ✍️

From power systems to materials discovery and urban governance, Tongji scholars shared how AI is moving beyond models and into the systems people rely on.
Energy grids. Laboratories. Cities in motion.
At WAIC, Tongji connected them through one shared language: AI.
