Shanghai Second Polytechnic University Shanghai Second Polytechnic University (SSPU) was founded in 1960, originally as “Shanghai Spare-time Polytechnic University”.

The university was renamed “Shanghai Second Polytechnic University” in 1984. With approval of the Ministry of Education, the university was transformed into a full-time vocational institution of higher learning in 2000. In November 2001 the university merged Shanghai Donghu Vocational & Technical College and formed the new Shanghai Second Polytechnic University. In 2003 the university became a fu

ll-time undergraduate institution approved by Shanghai People's Government. In April 2009, the university was listed as the construction unit of Engineering Degree of Master by Shanghai Education Commission.
