Tsinghua SIGS

Tsinghua SIGS The official page of Tsinghua SIGS, jointly founded by Tsinghua University and the Shenzhen Municipal Government.

Launched in March 2019, SIGS is Tsinghua University’s only campus located outside of Beijing, and is a further expansion and integration of the Tsinghua Graduate School at Shenzhen (GSST) and the Tsinghua Berkeley Shenzhen Institute (TBSI). Founded in 2001 and 2014 respectively, GSST and TBSI have laid a strong foundation for the establishment of SIGS. Given the advanced resources of Tsinghua Univ

ersity and the vibrant entrepreneurship environment in Shenzhen, we provide world-class graduate programs, conduct cutting-edge scientific research, and collaborate with industry in the City and the Greater Bay Area.

SIGSers Shine on UN Stage: From the Forest to the UN Conference Hall
A SIGSer's journey through sustainable energy governance.

Between 2025 and 2026, Yang Shuojia — a Tsinghua SIGS PhD candidate — traveled from the geothermal fields of Kamchatka to UNESCAP halls in Bangkok. She explored what a just energy transition means for a climate-vulnerable region.

In Kamchatka, she joined youth leaders from Asia-Pacific countries to discuss regional energy governance. As the only Chinese youth representative, she helped present research on youth-led energy transition.

Later in Bangkok, she co-launched A Guide for Youth Engagement in Asia-Pacific's Just Energy Transition on the UN ESCAP platform — and returned again to help organize a Tsinghua-led session on frontier technologies for the SDGs.

From forests to decision-making tables — Shuojia's journey shows what meaningful global engagement looks like.

【From Abu Dhabi to Shenzhen: 40 Global Youth and Scholars, Two Weeks of Applied AI】

What happened when a leading Middle Eastern research institute joined forces with Tsinghua SIGS in the heart of China's tech capital? The 2026 ADIA Lab–Tsinghua SIGS Summer School.

Held from July 6 to 17, this two-week program brought together over 40 global youth and scholars under the theme "Applied AI for the Digital Economy." It was an immersive dive into the local AI ecosystem, featuring collaborative research across healthcare, smart cities, robotics, climate and energy, finance, and responsible AI. Participants explored how AI can reshape urban environments — from intelligent infrastructure and climate-resilient city planning to sustainable digital economies. They toured the National Supercomputing Center, visited top Greater Bay Area tech enterprises like Tencent Research Institute, and experienced Chinese language classes, calligraphy, martial arts, and local food culture.

It was a true crossroads of disciplines, cultures, and continents — and we look forward to building on this momentum.
