A Brazilian girl from PKU Shenzhen's travel plog during the Golden Week--Golden Week Diaries: My Trip to Guilin & Yangshuo 🏞️

I made it to Guilin and Yangshuo, and the scenery is every bit as stunning as people say. Misty karst mountains, the calm Li River, and green peaks everywhere you look.
I visited Elephant Trunk Hill, Guilin's most famous landmark, where the rock really does look like an elephant drinking from the river. Then I went up to Ruyi Peak in Yangshuo, where the views over the mountains took my breath away.
But I won't pretend it was easy! Traveling during Golden Week means huge crowds. There were long lines at every scenic spot, packed buses and trains, sold-out tickets, and higher hotel prices. Some moments took real patience.

My advice if you're going during the holidays:
✅ Book train tickets and hotels early
✅ Buy scenic spot tickets online in advance
✅ Start your day early to beat the crowds
✅ Bring water, snacks, and a lot of patience!

Even with the crowds, I'm so grateful for this journey. The beauty of this place made every queue worth it.

🌕 Mooncakes, New Friends & a Mid-Autumn Adventure in Shekou! 🥮✨
What better way to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival than exploring Shenzhen, making new friends, and creating something with your own hands?
On September 22, international students stepped out to discover Shekou, where local history, international connections, and festive traditions came together for an unforgettable afternoon! 💛
📍 Stop 1: International Youth Exchange & Service Center — Our adventure began with a warm welcome and a chance to connect with fellow international students.
🌏 Stop 2: Shekou Expat Service Center & Foreign Legal Assistance Center — We explored services and resources designed to help international residents feel at home in Shenzhen.
🏘️ Stop 3: Nanshui Village History Museum — A journey through Shekou’s past gave us a glimpse of how this neighborhood has grown and changed over the years.
🥮 Stop 4: The Mumian Hotel Shenzhen Houhai — Time for some Mid-Autumn magic! From tasting mooncakes to making festive lanterns, we experienced Chinese traditions firsthand.
The best part? Sharing stories, discovering different cultures, and celebrating the spirit of togetherness under the same moon. 🌙
Different backgrounds, one unforgettable afternoon. Here's to new friendships and a little more of Shenzhen feeling like home! ❤️

A New Chapter Begins at PKU Shenzhen 🎓✨

On September 3, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School welcomed the Class of 2026 at its Opening Ceremony.

The ceremony brought together new students, faculty members and guests for a morning filled with music, performances, reflections and anticipation. From the vibrant school showcases and student performances to the moment when incoming students proudly put on their PKU badges, the campus was alive with the energy of a new beginning.

May the years ahead be filled with discovery, friendship, courage and possibilities. ❤️

New chapter: unlocked
On August 31, PKU Shenzhen welcomed the new students. Most of international students had already begun arriving in earlier groups, bringing new languages, perspectives and stories to campus.
From one-stop digital registration and campus shuttles to volunteers ready to help at every turn, check-in was smooth, efficient and full of warmth. The first campus photo has been taken, the welcome kit unpacked, and a brand-new adventure has officially begun.

During Peking University’s international student study tour in Xinjiang, we had the pleasure of meeting Phan Long Nhật, a young Vietnamese student who brought curiosity, kindness, and positive energy to the group.

Throughout the journey, Nhật connected with students from different countries, shared perspectives, exchanged stories, and built friendships across cultures. From long bus rides to shared meals and unforgettable moments around Xinjiang, the trip became more than a study tour. It became a space where young people from around the world got to know one another.

We are happy to see young people like Nhật taking part in international exchange and creating meaningful connections across borders.
