Summer break is the perfect time to get to know the city we live in a little better, and our international students recently took a field trip to explore beyond the usual campus spots.🔍🌟

The trip offered a fresh look at how much this city has changed over the years. They started at XCMG to see heavy machinery and automated assembly lines in action, then visited Mazhuang Village, where a former mining town managed to rebuild its economy through local tourism and traditional scented sachet crafts.

The contrast was even clearer at Pan’an Lake Wetland Park, where lush wetlands now cover what used to be a collapsed mining site. Combining these green landscapes with the region’s rich history made it clear how much quiet transformation has taken place across the city.

At the end of the trip, two of the students shared their thoughts on the experience, reflecting on how seeing these real-life changes helped them connect the dots between theory and reality. It was a great reminder that Xuzhou still has so many stories and hidden details just waiting to be discovered.

From green tech to hands-on crafting! CUMTers recently stepped out of the classroom for an eye-opening day trip that mixed industry innovation with a touch of local culture.

The trip started at SolarSpace, a leading manufacturer driving global solar technology. Walking through the production lines, the students gained a practical look at how solar and electromagnetic technologies are developed and applied in the real world.

Later in the afternoon, the group headed to Hanwang Town for a DIY acrylic night light workshop💡. They focused on the fine details—carving and polishing plain transparent boards until their custom sketches lit up into softly glowing night lights.✨

Paddles up and spirits high! Four of our incredible international students recently hit the courts at the Olympic Sports Center for the Jiangsu Foreigners Pickleball Friendship Tournament (Xuzhou). Competing against teams from universities across the region, the squad brought unmatched energy and seamless teamwork to every single rally. All that hustle totally paid off with a fantastic third-place finish. Huge congratulations to our players for representing the university with such passion and sportsmanship on the court!👏

Such a memorable time in Tangzhang Town! international students got a real taste of local life, exploring everything from smart agriculture to ancient holiday crafts.

Walking through lush mulberry orchards and smart greenhouses, the students observed silkworms up close. They saw firsthand how traditional silk farming is now powered by intelligent agriculture tech.

The cultural immersion continued with hands-on crafting from the Dragon Boat Festival. While making thread-wrapped Zongzi, the students learned the rich history behind these colorful silk charms. Winding the threads carries layers of beautiful wishes: holiday well-being, inviting good fortune, warding off evil, and rising step by step in life.

The day also included a peaceful stop at the Yu Jigao Art Museum to admire classic flower-and-bird paintings. A wonderful mix of nature, folk customs, and art!
