Anna, 26 year-old.
The patient complains about the reduced length of the maxillary incisors and asks for making better the esthetics of her front teeth.

Sliding the mandible buccally, the patient notices that the mandibular incisors are longer than the maxillary ones; consequently, the necessity to lengthen the latter becomes even more evident. It is worth noticing how, in this position, the occlusal contacts occur mainly between the posterior teeth.

The occlusal anterior view shows the lack of contact between the maxillary and mandibular incisors.
Moreover, it is possible to notice how the incisal margins are affected by wear due to dental attrition caused by parafunctional activities during night.
Dr. Fradeani graduated in medicine and surgery from the University of Ancona in 1979, where he then completed a specialization in Dentistry in 1983.
He was president of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (2003/2004), president of Accademia Italiana di Odontoiatria Protesica (1999/2000), and visiting associate professor in Prosthetics at Louisiana State University, New Orleans from 1999 until 2008.
He is an active member of The American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and maintains membership in The American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics.
He is Founder and Director of ACE Institute, Advanced Continuing Education centre in Pesaro, Italy.
He is a member of the editorial boards of Practical Periodontics & Aesthetic Dentistry and of The Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry.
Dr. Mauro Fradeani is the author of the book Esthethic Rehabilitation in Fixed Prosthodontics, vol. 1 – Esthetic Analysis (translated into 12 languages), and vol. 2 Prosthetic treatment: a systematic approach to esthetic, biologic and functional integration edited by Quintessence International.

La paziente si lamenta della ridotta lunghezza degli incisivi superiori e richiede un miglioramento dell’estetica dentale anteriore.

La paziente, facendo scivolare la mandibola in avanti, fa notare come gli incisivi inferiori siano più lunghi di quelli superiori, avvalorando così la necessità di allungare questi ultimi.
Si nota come in questa posizione i contatti tra i denti siano soprattutto a carico dei settori posteriori.

La visione occlusale anteriore mostra la mancanza di contatto tra gli incisivi superiori e gli inferiori.
Si può, inoltre, notare come i bordi incisali presentino delle usure legate all’attrito dentale a seguito di digrignamento notturno.
CV MAURO FRADEANI
Laureatosi in Medicina e Chirurgia nel 1979, ha conseguito la specializzazione in Odontostomatologia presso l’Università di Ancona nel 1983.
È stato Presidente dell’AIOP (Accademia Italiana di Odontoiatria Protesica) nel biennio 1999/2000 e dell’EAED (Accademia Europea di Estetica Dentale) nel biennio 2003/2004.
Visiting Associate Professor in Protesi presso la Louisiana State University – New Orleans (USA) dal 1999 al 2008, è membro di alcune tra le Accademie dentali più prestigiose a livello mondiale, quali l’American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry e l’American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics.
È fondatore e direttore di Ace Institute, centro di formazione per odontoiatri con sede a Pesaro e svolge un’intensa attività come relatore a livello internazionale sui temi dell’estetica dentale e sulla riabilitazione protesica su denti naturali e su impianti.
Editore associato dell’European Journal of Esthetic Dentistry (EJED), è membro dell’Editorial Board della rivista Practical Periodontics & Aesthetic Dentistry (PPAD) e del Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry (JERD).
Il Dott. Mauro Fradeani è autore di numerose pubblicazioni scientifiche su riviste internazionali e del testo in due volumi “La riabilitazione estetica in protesi fissa tradotto in 12 lingue (editore: Quintessenza Edizioni).
