📰 From April 18 to 27, we had the joy of receiving a group from Pueblo Presbytery in Colorado, the home presbytery of our professor Karla Ann Koll, director of the School of Theological Sciences of the UBL.

Their visit allowed them to learn about the work of the UBL and to discern how people of faith are responding to the challenges in our contexts. 🕯

Through encounters with representatives of different organizations, the group came to understand the current context of Costa Rica. ✊🏾📚 Students and professors from the UBL shared how we read the Bible and do theology in Latin America.

The group also visited communities and a national park on the Caribbean coast. They also dedicated a morning to work in the community gardens on campus. 🌻

🌱💬 Away from an instrumental transition, where one resource is exploited to then extract another, in pursuit of maintaining the same energy and economic model of consumption, a just transition requires a structural socio-ecological and economic transformation of the system itself, one that critically challenges a lavish lifestyle and acknowledges the historical debt and the obligations of reparation and restitution of the countries of the North.

In February, we had the pleasure of welcoming Timothy McConnell and his children, his daughter Tess and son Calum. Timothy is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Haven.✨

During their stay, they helped update our computer equipment and worked in the Girasoles Cedros-UBL Community Garden. We are grateful for the equipment they donated and the expertise and time they shared. 💻🔧🌿📦

These visits are an opportunity to get to know each other better and mutually share our gifts. 🤝🏽
